Hermione and Draco didn't have an actual conversation after their encounter in the library for quite some time.
On October 30th, the Durmstrang and Beauxbatons students were to arrive. So, the entire school gathered in front of the castle, waited for the witches and wizards to arrive and welcomed them.
From the moment Viktor Krum appeared, the whispers got louder. However Draco tried to play it cool. He had met the quidditch star at the quidditch world cup, simply because his father had demanded it. He had gotten to know the wizard and knew that he was no more interesting than Crabbe and Goyle. He knew Krum was a star and he admired him. But he wasn't really one to have a conversation with. This did not stop a few girls and even 1 guy from fainting when catching a sight of him.
Once everyone had arrived, they took off towards the great hall. While walking, Draco still heard everyone fawning over Viktor Krum, when suddenly he heard a familiar voice say 'For heaven's sake, Ron, he's only a quidditch player.'
Typical Granger, even though for just this once Draco had to admit that he thought exactly the same. Yes Krum had fame and wealth, but the man was incapable of having an interesting conversation.
Once they had reached the great Hall, Draco sat down at the Slytherin table, along with Crabbe, Goyle, Krum and a few other durmstrang students. As soon as he saw Ron staring jealously, he couldn't help but put a smug grin on his face. Krum may not be the best conversationalist, but he made Weaslebee jealous and that was as good as life would get.
After the introduction and dinner had ended, Krum had asked Draco for a tour through the school. Which Draco gave him gladly.
The tour had begun on the ground floor and he decided it would be best to just go from the lowest floor to the highest.
After 20 minutes on the ground and first floor, they finally reached the Hogwarts library. 'And here's the library. Which isn't really interesting. However if you're planning on coming here often I think it's better to show you around now, since Madam Pince isn't back yet. You don't want to get in trouble with her.' He explained and guided Viktor into the library.
As Viktor seemed to be quite interested in this room, Draco decided to show him all the sections. Eventually they reached the section 'magical creatures' where in a dark corner a bushy haired girl was reading about house-elves.
'Who's that?' Viktor asked, flabbergasting Draco who had not seen Hermione.
'That's Granger, crazy she is. Thinks she can make up for being a mudblood with knowledge about our world and spells and potions." Draco rolled his eyes, but as Hermione had heard her name she turned around.
"Little bit of advice, don't be friends with the likes of him while you're here. He probably just likes you for your fame. I'm Hermione Granger.' She smiled at Krum, who simply smiled back at her. However this was not received as he had hoped and Hermione sighed, "Just because you're famous, doesn't mean you shouldn't introduce yourself." She stated and Viktor quickly reached out his hand.
"Viktor Krum." He introduced himself.
"Granger, you don't know what you're talking about. I don't like him for his fame." Draco tried to break up the intense moment between the two. Not like he had been jealous. He just didn't like it when Hermione Granger was happy and smiling.
"Why do you call her Granger, not Hermy-own?" Viktor asked Draco, with a frown.
Draco cocked his eyebrow, "Don't people just call you Krum?" He asked, making a slight smile appear on Hermione's face for a second.
"Yes, zey do." He said, clearly not amused by Draco's smart remark. "I have to go now, I hope to see you soon Hermy-own." Krum nodded at her and she smiled back at him.
"Do you need help finding your way back?" Draco said, but was quickly shot down by Krum, who was done with him. So Viktor left on his own, leaving behind a blushing Hermione and an offended Draco.
After Viktor was gone Draco turned around towards Hermione. "Oh Granger, don't tell me you have a thing for him now. You're so easy. I bet I could even make you fall for me." He scoffed.
"No thank you, I have standards, and I don't have a thing for him!" Hermione said offendedly, walking towards one of the gigantic bookcases, where she started browsing through the books.
"Well if your standards include being able to pronounce your name right, then you're right, you can't like him." Draco smirked.
Hermione didn't turn towards him, she simply kept browsing while she said, "I've never heard you pronounce it right, so as far as I'm concerned you pronounce it even worse than him."
Draco shook his head, "I don't have to prove that I can pronounce your name to you, you filthy little mudblood." He sneered.
Hermione took a deep breath at the sound of that word. She had gotten a little used to it over the years, but it still hurt to hear it. When she found out that she's a witch, she had been excited to discover a new world full of magic. Only to find out that people with muggle parents were worth less to some people. She had tried to learn as much as she could to prove that she deserved to be a witch, but somehow it hadn't had as much effect as she would've hoped. It may have been naïve to think knowledge would change someone's point of view, but there had to be something to change their mind, right?
"I never said you did, I'm just stating the fact that you don't get to say anything about his pronunciation, since you haven't even tried it yourself." She explained, still focused on the books.
"You're just an exhausting know-it-all, you should be glad to even be in my presence." Draco stated confidently.
Hermione snorted, "Well I'm not, so you can leave and 'bless' others with your presence." She made air quotes in the air with her fingers while saying the word bless, provoking Draco.
"You think you can get on my nerves? Well you can't and I'll stay here as long as I want." He seethed.
Hermione raised her shoulders, "Alright. Just thought that since you think you're presence is a blessing, you might want to bless someone who does actually appreciate it, with it. But if you wanna stay here, who am I to keep you from your dreams?"
"You're exhausting." He sighed, making Hermione roll her eyes.
"You already told me that and if I'm that exhausting, why don't you just leave? I couldn't care less about where you are. Or are your feet glued to the floor there?" Hermione asked, as she grabbed a book from the shelf and made her way to the bookcase on the left of the one she had been looking through.
Draco's nerves were throbbing and he felt like he was about to burst any second. However he couldn't let her win, so he grabbed a random book from a shelf, and sat down at a table to read it.
"Reading Martin Luther King's autobiography (A/N sorry got this idea from the dramione bible, isolation) interesting choice." She stated, but he simply ignored her and kept on reading.
