HELLO BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE, I'VE GOT A NEW STORY HERE THATS BEEN FESTERING IN MY MIND FOR A WHILE NOW, REALLY DON'T SEE A LOT OF MALE ORIGINAL CHARACTER F1 STORIES OUT THERE SO I THOUGHT I WOULD GIVE IT A TRY. HOPE YOU LIKE.
WORLD KARTING CHAMPIONSHIP - LONDON - 2ND OF AUGUST 2013
This was the proving grounds for future drivers, a chance to be discovered and get signed by a racing academy. That was what the world karting championship offered for all drivers who wanted to take their skills to the next level of racing and it was a chance for a certain young man to shine.
Slicing through the track was a young Lloyd Jordan, he was grabbing the attention of all those watching as he skillfully drove pass the competition.
"And that's P2 Lloyd, your doing great mate just one more car to beat ahead."
The voice of his race engineer rang out in his helmet as he passed another driver. "copy" he said as he focused on getting the last driver.
"what a race were having here folks, number 99 and 55 are really going at it here. what a last lap this will be as they turn towards the final corner!" the race commentator announced through the speakers that blasted all over the track, excitement audible in his voice.
Both Karts came out of the final corner as Lloyd was still behind the kart in front as he tried to get the slipstream as they accelerated through the long straight. It would be in vain though as they passed the checkered flag with him ending the race in P2.
"Chin up mate, you've had a fantastic drive. You definitely had a few heads turned your way after that performance" His racing engineer said, attempting to cheer the boy up.
"Dammit! Just needed one more lap." He said through the radio. "Never mind that just bring the kart back to the Garage we've got a podium to celebrate."
Arriving at a closed of section of the Park ferme for the Podium sitters. Getting out of his kart was Lloyd as he was greeted by his race engineer giving him a bear hug, almost lifting the 14 year old of the ground as he released him from the hug.
"You were amazing kid, well done...here let me help you with that" he said noticing that the young racing driver was trying to remove his racing helmet. After a few seconds past they were able to remove the helmet as Lloyd toke a breath of fresh air revealing his slightly sweaty face to the world as his hair was wet with sweat. Noticing a towel being handed to him, Lloyd grabbed it "Thanks Ted." The now named racing engineer nodded as the towel was handed back to him as the boy was done using it.
"Should have won" Lloyd said dejectedly "I should have been quicker in the corners I had the pace-"
"hey hey hey... don't think like that, you had an awesome drive. Remember you started from P12, you made it up to the podium through all that traffic." Ted said.
"But I still didn't win?" Lloyd said.
"Lloyd listen, your not gonna win every race but that doesn't mean your not good or you didn't deserve to win. We all Just have to learn from our mistakes and get better ok." He said encouraging the fourteen year old.
"Excuse me?" A voice said bringing the two of them out of their discussion. They looked and saw it was a boy close to Lloyd's age. Noticing he was wearing a racing suit, It was easy to tell he was the one that beat Lloyd for first.
"Can we help you?" Ted asked the boy. "I just wanted to say you were Awesome out there!" He said, talking to Lloyd. "Thanks. You weren't bad yourself" Lloyd said. The two teenagers soon started chatting with each other about the race, it was friendly as far as ted could say as he stood in the background listening to them talk as a few laughs and chuckles were heard from either of them as they spent the few minutes just talking.
Noticing that they were about to award the top three, Ted decided to interrupt the boys conversation "Guys I think its time for you to go."
"Oh right. . .um I didn't quite catch your name, Mine's Lloyd." Lloyd said extending a hand to his soon to be friend. "Lando, Lando Norris" He said shaking the offered hand.
It didn't take long for the boys to be announced as they walked on to the podiums. Lloyd looked at the trophy in his hand. The silver trophy allowing him to see his reflection, his dark skin pointing him out like a sour thumb. He knew his chances of getting into formula one where going to be hard being he was black but he didn't care, he was going to make it like his idol Lewis and nothing was going to stop him.
HOPE YOU GUYS LIKE AND SORRY ITS SHORT. THIS IS JUST TO TEST THE WATERS I WILL BE RESPONDING TO YOUR COMMENTS IF YOU THINK I SHOULD CONTINUE THIS STORY. ITS YOUR CALL SO YEAH. BYE.
