Dib grabbed his luggage and briefcase and hauled them into the boot of the taxi. Dib glanced over at Gaz who stood with her hands behind her back, swaying back and forthon her legs. He noticed for once she wasn't holding her game slave and was smiling at Dib, her lavender skirt fluttering in the cool noon breeze. Today was the day. The day he left for college. He was finnaly putting everything else behind him to become one of the world's greatest scientists, just like his dad had hoped. It was time to give up his paranormal interests for once and for all, succeeding as a great scientist and the genius he was.

Professor Membrane was too busy to even see his son off in person, as his schedule was so jam-packed. A live broadcasting of him on a small sleek screen hovered however, not far behind Gaz's shoulder. He was writing in a small blue notebook, not taking much notice of the scene around him, looking every now and again up from his work to make sure he didn't miss what was happening.

"I just know you'll make a great scientist, son. Do me proud." Professor Membrane smiled as he put his notebook beside him, his coat muffling his speaking ever so slightly.

Dib smiled back and waved, ready to set off to his new college. The raven-haired boy had always had an interest for paramoral discovery, but he soon came to the realisation he should probably move on from this phase and study 'real 'science, as his dad had always said. His dad had always wanted Dib to be a great scientist anyway, and to be honest Dib didn't mind it all that much. He was above average in all his subjects (to the annoyance of his peers), and found science quite fun when you chopped out all the boring, tyring parts. His obsession with Zim the tiny irken invader had been decreasing over the years when he came to the realization Zim's evil plans would probably never succeed, despite all the effort the poor alien poured into them.

Dib let out a small, useless sigh. Even though the petite alien had been his arch nemesis, he hated to admit it, but Zim was the closest thing Dib had ever had to a friend in his life and was sure Zim felt the same way, deep inside. After all these years the two still argued, but never really made much of an effort to hurt or stop one another as much as they use to. Although most of there time with one another was spent bickering and scrabbling, and following each other around, the two also helped each other out occasionally with bothers they had, due to a unspoken friendship and respect the two shared for each other.

Zim peered over at the scence before him, peeping his small head out from behind the Membrane's house, using a bush to cover and disguise himself from being seen by the inferior humans. He looked out at his rival, Dib, with a melancholy expression on his face, nonexistent brows furrowing deep into his face, his mouth upturned. He hated to admit it, but he was going to miss Dib. Zim felt a sort of comfort in his enemy, he was someone he could talk about his evil plans to that would really listen to him,  someone that respected the irken and marvelled his creations, and when one was in a really tough spot they could always count on the other to comfort them, in their own uncomfortable ways, trying yet failing to sound blunt and rude as they told each other how much they meant to one another, despite of everything. He was going to miss Dib more than anything. Without him he had no one worth talking to, no one to congratulate him on his latest discoveries and he was going to miss the stupid human.
----------------------------------

Dib glanced a flash of pale green and hot pink in the corner of his eye. He turned his head back to spot Zim, looking at Dib with a sorrowful appearance plastered on his face. Dib let out a small chuckle, closing his eyes and smiling ,waving at Zim, glad to see that the alien was thinking about him and wanted to see him off. It was obvious to him that Zim had been too proud to come forth and own up to the fact that he cared for Dib by seeing him off to college properly, so he was hiding from him by watching a far. The irken scoweled as he realised that he had been spotted, folding his arms and putting his head up in the air, turning his imaginary nose up into disgust and closing his eyes, pretending to despise Dib and act like that the pitiful Human hadn't just seen him distressed with the fact that he was leaving. This only seemed to amuse the human even more, his smile spreading. Zim let out a sigh of annoyance and began to walk away over the house's fence, retracting his widow-like mechanical legs, pattering against the dampened green grass and  sludgy brown earth, head still held high. Dib shrugged, yet he was still happy that Zim secretly cared for him enough to see him leave. He opened the  taxi's blinding illunianous yellow doors, hopping into the middle backseat and sliding into the black interior of the leather seats, sighing as he placed his briefcase on the seat to his left.

This was it. The start to finnaly becoming respected as the genius he was and putting the past behind him.
