I STOOD in front of the new school i was supposed to attend. it was around early fall and the chilly breeze of the morning made me shiver. my heart was pumping fast as i tried to calm myself down, but the anxiety kicked in, and was having doubts if i should even go today. i could always say that i was sick and had to come in on the second day of school, but i didn't want to take the chance of ruining my first impression.

after i finally came to terms with myself, i walked in the doors of the school. i looked down at the schedule in hand and decided to ask somebody about it. the weight of my books in my backpack hurt a little, but i would be okay.

i walked up to the door that said 'office' walked inside. to the right was a fake plant and 2 chairs while the desk was in front of me. it was pretty big for an office, i tell you. this is the size of my living room.

i walked up to the counter where a cheerful-looking woman sat. she had brown hair in a ponytail, a bunch of tiny little strands sticking up in it. her outfit was more on the strict side, however, as she had a tight skirt that went down to her knees and a neat blazer. she was distracted with typing, as her index finger poked each letter, forming a sentence. she didn't have her fingers in the right position and i found it amusing to watch her tongue stick out as she concentrated so hard to form a paragraph.

i need to ask her about my schedule. i cleared my throat in hopes that she would hear it, but she didn't. i guess i finally had to speak up, huh?

"excuse me ma'am but i'm new here and i'm not sure where my homeroom is. could you please help me?"

i made my voice as polite as i could get it, trying to make a good first impression. the woman finally looked up and smiled brightly.

"of course! i'll help you with that right away!"

the woman got out her seat and walked around the large desk. she was about medium height, enlarged by her 1-inch heels. she walked out of the office and walked side by side with me, guiding me throughout the halls. after a few moments of silence, she decided to be the ice breaker.

"so, what's your name?" she said as she dragged out the 'o'. she talked in a childlike manner, i thought it was pretty cute.

"my name is kaede akamatsu! what's yours?"

"my name is aoi asahina! but you can just call me mrs. hina."

"that's a really pretty name mrs. hina!" she giggled.

"thank you, kaede!"

when we finally got to the classroom, i was disappointed that mrs. hina had to go. at this point, she was the only thing keeping me from having a breakdown.

the class was 2-B, and it looked like an ordinary classroom. mrs. hina opened the door for me and held up her hand in a peace sign. i did the same as i stepped foot into the classroom. the teacher looked at me and immediately recognized me. he signaled me to come in front of the classroom, and i obeyed.

"class, this is kaede akamatsu. she is another freshman here at hope's peak. i'm sure that none of you saw her at hopes peak middle school, and that's because she just transferred here. P
please be welcoming."
