AROUND THE SAME TIME Liv and Beverly were up in the bedroom Liv and Maddie shared. Beverly sat glumly on Liv's purple clad bed, her hands folded tightly in her lap. Liv was terribly concerned for her friend, and didn't have a single clue as to what to do in this situation. Beverly had just figured out that her boyfriend was missing and nobody had any evidence following. Liv sat beside her friend and put a comforting arm around her.

"You alright?" Liv asked softly. What a stupid question. What a stupid question. Are you alright? Obviously she isn't! Liv shook her head. "I'm sorry, not what I meant to ask, I just don't know what to say."

"It's fine." Murmured Beverly, glancing over at Liv. "No need to try and be comforting, I'm already preparing for the worst..."

"Don't be like that." Liv, who was a raging optimist, hated seeing Beverly so down in the dumps.

"How else am I supposed to be, Liv?" Beverly cried, her blue eyes darkening. "Bill's gone! And nobody has any evidence." She sighed. "Might as well forget about him because I doubt that he'll be back anytime soon."

"Don't say that!" Liv slapped her friend across the face, and then grabbed her shoulders. "Once you give up hope, there's no chance for Bill! It all falls down onto what we want! Do we want the police to find him!? Or do we want to sit on our asses and do nothing because Bill's not going to be back anytime soon!?"

Beverly looked stunned. "I-I..."

"You need to get your head in the game, Beverly Marsh! There is no fucking way I'm letting you give up on him that easy! You want to see him again, right!?"

Beverly nodded.

"Good. Then, get yourself out of the mindset that you're never going to see him again! Because you are, I guarantee it!"

"You're right, Liv..." Beverly nodded. "But why did you have to slap me?"

Liv laughed. "I'm sorry, I had to knock some sense into you."

"You really didn't."

They sat in silence for a moment before Beverly stood up, a concerned expression set on her face that made the hair on Liv's neck stand up. "What is it?" asked Liv, her own curiosity spiking.

"It's too quiet downstairs..." Beverly replied.

"Okay?" Liv didn't see the problem. There was music blaring in her room, so they couldn't really hear in the first place. "Maybe my pop put on a movie or something and everybody settled down?"

Beverly shook her head. "No, it's not that... It's just too still. Like nobody but us is in the house right now..."

"Believe me, Bev, we're not the only people in the house."

In a way, Liv was correct with that statement, but not in the way she was thinking. The whole population of the house fled once the banging in the hall had begun. That left Beverly and Liv upstairs, and the cause of the sound downstairs. Let's see how long it takes them to realize it.
