A/N: Typhoon 8 today where I'm at, so no school :) So I decided that I'd post an extra oneshot today. Hope you enjoy some friendship instead of romance this time.
On with the oneshot...
--
She'd just returned back from the most amazing date ever. After showering and getting dressed in her comfy hoodie and sweatpants, she flops onto the bed, grabbing her phone. She can't wait to call her best friend.
"Amy!"
"Hey Piper! So, how did it go?" Her best friend excitedly inquired. This was her first date ever, and her best friend wanted everything to be perfect for her.
"It was perfect."
"Ooh, tell me, tell me!"
"So he got here, and brought flowers and everything. Red carnations, Amy. I didn't even know he had any idea what my favourite flowers were. And he wasn't even late like he usually is."
Her best friend squeals. Secretly, she also smirks. He had asked her about her Piper's favourite flowers the week before. It looked like he had taken her advice.
"That's so adorable! Tell me more, pipes."
"So he drives us to the movies, and we watched step up. We shared popcorn and candy, and he even gave me his hoodie cause it was cold."
"Total boyfriend move, there. And what did you do after?"
"We went to the little park and got ice cream. I paid, since he paid for the movie tickets. And then we danced to our special playlist of songs."
She thinks back to the dancing. They had goofed around at first, then when the slower, more romantic songs played, he had brought her closer to his chest. They slow danced for a couple songs, her standing on his toes as to be the right height. She has a knowing feeling that her best friend was involved in helping him plan the date, and she's so thankful for it.
"Did you help Finn with the date at all?
"Not one bit", Amy lies.
--
"So. You never told me about the date with Henry" Her best friend asks.
"How was it?"
She thinks back to the amazing camping date in studio a. She doesn't know how he pulled it off, but she's so grateful. She also has a small feeling that her best friend was involved in the planning, but she knows better than to mention it.
"It was amazing, pipes. He set up this whole camping ground for me, and we made s'mores and played a ton of games. We also danced a ton pipes. And he chose the song Rome!"
She rambles on, excitedly. This was the first time she had been able to share these kinds of stories with Piper. Usually, she was the one telling her best friend all about her dates. But this time, her best friend had also gone on a date.
"So, I take it you liked the date." Her best friend laughs. Out of the two of them, Amy was definitely the one who was more into romantic gestures and relationships.
"Oh yeah. Definitely. We even got the kiss that we missed out in the carpark almost half a year ago."
"Has it really been that long?"
"Yep. Time really does fly, doesn't it."
"Definitely."
They talk more about their dates, and gossip about one of their old best friend's new boyfriend. They had just met him the other day, and the pair had seemed really happy.
--
Not too long later, the topic drifts towards the subject of dance. It was really inevitable, with two extremely dedicated dancers and Dancemania around the corner. It was honestly a miracle that they had even kept the conversation away from dance for so long.
"So, you going to audition for the resurrection round with Finn again?" Amy asks eagerly.
Piper bites her lip, originally wanting to ask Amy to duet. It was a terrible idea, she thinks. What if she had already partnered up with Henry? Then who would she duet with?
"No, actually." She reveals.
"Oh, why not?
"Well since we're already doing a duet for the regular rounds, I thought we I'd let him partner with one of his bros. Plus, I was kind of hoping that we could partner up?"
Her best friend's surprised. Amy hadn't expected that with Finn around, she'd want to partner for the duet at all.
"I'm totally down. Maybe Henry and Finn will partner up, and it'll be girls versus boys. That would be fun."
She laughs, relieved that her best friend still wanted to dance with her. They hadn't danced together in so long; especially with Amy leaving for Acronation. In fact, their last duet together was before TNS east and TNS west had merged, which was almost a year ago.
"We're totally going to win." She jokingly replies. They both laugh at the thought of the resurrection round. Nobody knew what style they'd get, so they could get anything from ballet, to tap, to Latin.
"I kind of hope that they get Latin. Or oooh, maybe tap. They could put on heels or tutus and everything. That would be adorable." Amy obsesses.
Piper laughs at the image in her head. The two tall, strong boys in her signature leotard and shorts, or even tutus. She didn't even want to imagine the chaos that would be left in their wake if they decided to put on heels.
"Do you really want the studio to be in pieces if they decided to stomp around in heels? Emily would kill them, let alone Nick"
--
Amy laughs at the thought of an angry Emily and Nick yelling at the boys in tutus and heels. Honestly, she would pay to let that happen, but she'd never tell piper, knowing about her anxiety.
"Totally worth it for the video material."
"Yeah, no. We are not letting them do that, Aimes."
"Fineee. But you have to admit it would be funny."
"Funny until Emily makes us clean up and fix the whole studio."
She missed talking to her best friend like this. They had drifted apart ever since she had joined a different troupe to prove that she was a lead dancer. She had almost ruined that friendship. It was only with the help of Finn that she realised she had really hurt piper, and they had soon made up.
That was why she insisted on helping him plan the date. She wanted to return the favour of helping him, and she also really wanted her best friend to be happy.
"Aimes, you still there?" She shakes herself out of her daze.
"Yeah, sorry. Got lost in a daydream."
Her best friend laughs.
"Of course you did." And they both giggle for a bit. They spend hours talking that night, catching up with each other. They paid for it the next day, showing up to rehearsals weary eyed and tired. But it was totally worth it. They exchange glances in the studio, and hold in laughs.
They were going to be best friends for life, if she had any say in the future. And she knew that her best friend thought the same.
