"And cut - okay everyone that was perfect, I'll see you all tomorrow make sure to get a good nights sleep, curtain opens at 7:30 sharp!
You exhaled deeply. You were finally finished for the day, there was nothing you loved more than being on stage but rehearsals were absolutely exhausting especially the night before the show. But acting has always been your dream for as long as you can remember and you were so grateful to get a leading role in a play so shortly after graduating from college. You could say it was the quite the accomplishment to graduate from Julliard at the age of 22, well it was to you. New York has been your new home now for about 5 years having moved from a small town in Denver to pursue your dream of becoming an actress. It didn't start off easy, you had to work horrible waitress and serving jobs right up until your final year in college to pay for your tuition and of course for your rent & bills.
You twisted the key in the lock opening the door to your apartment. Your apartment was by no means big or spacious or the nicest looking but you tried your best by decorating it as nicely as you could. You kicked off your shoes and put the TV on in the background. Walking to your kitchen you began to make yourself something to eat, tonight you were having pasta one of the very few things you could actually cook. Pouring yourself a glass of wine you picked up your phone to see a message from your best friend Brooke from back home
"Break a leg tomorrow night girl you'll smash it!"
You smiled to yourself and replied back to her feeling your stomach encompassing in nerves. Fingers crossed you thought to yourself as you got yourself ready for bed.____________________________________
Charlie Barber took a deep sigh as he ran his hand through his hair. He slammed his fist on the living room table in front of him and shouted in frustration as he hung up the phone on his ex wife Nicole. Charlie was supposed to be flying to LA this weekend to see his son Henry for the first time in around 4 weeks but Nicole made other plans for Henry at the time when Charlie is due to visit. "Bitch" he said to himself leaning back in his couch. Charlie and Nicole have been divorced for almost a year now with Nicole taking Henry with her to live in LA. Charlie gave LA a chance but returned to his beloved New York after 6 months. New York was his home it was where his theater was, his friends, his heart. He now tries to visit Henry as often as he can and takes Henry to New York whenever he gets the chance.
Charlie stepped into his shower letting the warm water run down his large body. He closed his eyes and hung his head back trying to forget about all the stress he was experiencing for the last few days as the steam encircled the bathroom. He washed his hair and body and wrapped a towel round his waist walking to his bedroom he saw his phone light up with a message from his friend Sean who also directed in theater
"Hey man hope you're good. The first night of my play premiers tomorrow evening in the cherrybrook theatre by 79th street, I'd love for you to come I think you'll enjoy it. Curtain opens at 7:30 sharp, hope to see you there!"Charlie thought to himself trying to remember if he had any plans for tomorrow evening and realized he was free.
"I'll be there, looking forward to it, see you then"
