Chapter twoStudents began to gather in the corridors leading to the great hall, stumbling through the crowd I found myself searching for Cedric. To say I was panicked, was an understatement— until I felt a familiar pair of warm hands tug me onto the Hufflepuff table. Realising Cedric had found me, my once panicked state vanished within seconds of seeing those caring grey eyes.
Cedric was looking in my direction with a smug smile— his hand still in my own, and mine unwilling to let his go. It was moments like these where I found myself falling for Cedric more everyday, if that were even possible at this stage. But it was also moments such as this, that I had to remain calm and as if I hadn't noticed his hand still in mine, his eyes set upon me, or his smile peering down at me. Because Cedric was my best friend, and that's all he ever would be.
Snapped out of my thoughts, Malcolm Preece, the third member of our troubled group, sat hurriedly in front of Cedric and I.
"If it isn't Hogwarts power couple" Malcolm snorted, looking at our interlocked hands.
"You have to be in a relationship to be a couple, let alone a power couple, Malcolm" I retorted, letting go of Cedrics hand. "And I'm not Cedrics type, he wouldn't go for someone that looks like, well... me?"
Cedric and Malcolm both shook their head, "Whatever you say Princess" Malcolm responded, sending a wink to Cedric; I hadn't focused on the situation too much as Dumbledore demanded the students attention, to introduce the newest teacher at Hogwarts.
Remus Lupin was quite handsome, despite the visible scars on his face. This year was going to be interesting for sure, but i made no mistake of noticing Severus Snape losing the opportunity for the teaching position he'd always wanted, defence against the dark arts. But by the time I regained focus, it was well past supper and therefore time for bed.
"Miss Hale?" A harsh voice greeted.
Stopping in my tracks I turned to the all familiar voice, "Yes Snape?" I questioned.
"It has come to my attention that the Slytherin dormitories are full" He stated, with exaggeration."And you're informing me because?"
"I am to escort you to the Hufflepuff dormitories, where you will be greeted by Professor Sprout and shown to your room" Snape hissed, with an unimpressed frown. And with the flick of his robe he stomped down the hall.
Confusion was one word to describe the current state of my mind, the Slytherin dormitories were full, which was odd— I had been at Hogwarts since first year, so why was my room no longer available to me? And why was I being escorted to the Hufflepuff common room, of all places?
Snape had now made his way back to his duties and left me with Professor Sprout, who might I add, had been gawking on about her plants for over twenty minutes now.
"Professor?"
"Oh yes, yes. Let's get you to your room. Just wait here for one moment, dear" She responded.
Within seconds she was making her way through a brightly lit hall covered in yellow wallpaper. She appeared soon after with two familiar looking boys, Cedric and Malcolm. "Here we are, the three of you better hurry to bed now" Professor Sprout stated.
"Professor, you haven't shown us to our room?" Malcolm pointed out, "Merlins Beard! I'm sorry you three. Let's get on our way, we don't need you out past curfew now, do we?"
"No ma'am" The three of us chortled.
Pacing down corridor after corridor we finally made it to a secluded room in the castle.
"Why exactly are we being relocated to this dormitory, Professor?" Cedric questioned.
"There has been a lack of space in your old dormitories, there's quite the crowd of first years this year at Hogwarts. And the three of you are the most trustworthy students, so it has come to the conclusion that this shall be your dormitory throughout your sixth and seventh years here at Hogwarts" Professor Sprout announced. "Now, your trunks are already inside, please no lurking after hours and have a good rest for your first day of classes tomorrow students!"
"Well that was weird" I mumbled.
"Weird that Harry, Ronald and Hermione weren't the three that this would happen to. They are Dumbledores favourite after all" Malcolm retorted.
We each stumbled inside and made our way to our assigned beds, the room looked similar to every other dormitory, aside from it being much larger. I sat on my bed, legs crossed and arms on my knees, waiting for lights out.
"Y/N?" Malcolm spoke out.
"Yes Malcolm?"
"A little birdie told me that Fred Weasley is going to ask you on a date!" He replied.
I snorted, "Fred Weasley? He's just a friend!"
He smirked in return, "Yeah, yeah. Just like how Cedrics just a friend?"
"Shove off" I groaned.
"Well Y/N, why don't you date Fred? He's a good guy and all" Cedric added. I looked towards Cedric with distaste.
"He isn't right for me, and I like someone else" I responded.
"Whoever it is, you'll tell us one day. And he'd be idiotic to not feel the same way about you
Y/N" Cedric stated with a warm smile."Goodnight Ced" I called out, attempting to change the subject.
"So no goodnight for me?" Malcolm questioned.
"Goodnight Malcolm" Both Cedric and I said with a laugh.
