ndjdkjhgfd small little thank you to everyone who comments! you're all so sweet about my terrible writing, fluff as a treat :)

5 more days.

korekiyo kept counting the days until his boyfriend would be back in his arms again. it was five.

five torturous days.

five days of making breakfast for one, sitting in the living room alone. watching the beams of sunlight cast itself on the television, usually playing whatever stupid rom-com rantaro loved, now silent.

five days of hugging the pillows next to him, slipping on whichever hoodie still smelled of his lover. just to feel something again.

rantaro was away in paris, looking for a lead on his sisters. the poor boy always worked so hard, often coming undone in front of korekiyo, before shrugging it off like nothing. becoming the same happy-go-lucky persona as always, laughing off his concerned boyfriend's comments.

korekiyo could never quite understand the enigma that was rantaro amami.

he blinks twice, rechecking the time.

3:00 AM.

it was about noon for rantaro; it couldn't hurt. korekiyo mutters, slipping out his phone and propping it by the nightstand.

of course, rantaro would be thrilled to hear his boyfriend's voice. they were both entirely burnt out and overstimulated, rantaro with his sisters, and korekiyo still working hard for his education, with no one to hold him when things became overwhelming. but he couldn't help the intrusive thoughts that burned into his mind.

korekiyo takes a deep sigh, clicking rantaro's contact.

the contact photo was endearing to him. it was from their first date, an outing to the nearby mall. rantaro thought it would be nice, they could shop, and korekiyo could observe others. the photo was their first-ever together, rantaro crossing his eyes as a small drop of ice cream tickled his nose. the little whine that came from the shorter boy as the other set the photo with a chuckle. it was a fond memory.

absolutely adorable.

he looks at the name, reading "rantaro, my darling.💚"

the first nickname.

it came from korekiyo. around their second date, he let the nickname slip. rantaro chuckled, watching the taller try to fix his mistake, before repeating it back.

"no need to stress, my darling."

he shakes his head with a small grin, clicking "call," almost immediately picked up by rantaro.

the green-haired boy looked almost disheveled, dark under-eye bags covering the light freckles that dusted his face. his hair was sticking out in random areas, and his eyes seemed full of worry. korekiyo concluded almost instantly he hasn't slept much or at all.

"baby? is everything okay?"

"ah, yes... everything is just alright. my apologies for bothering you."

"hey, hey, no!! please talk to me...!"

korekiyo tilts his head, observing his boyfriend again.

"oh-? ah, i will stay then. i just missed you. quite a lot, in fact."

"aww! i missed you too... you all comfy there? happy?"

not quite, please come back.

"i am quite alright."

please don't leave me alone.

"that's awesome! yknow, paris is quite a romantic place... i was thinking-"

please come back home, my dear.

"...and the views are amazing! i can take you to my favorite cafe, and-"

it's unbearable...

"...kiyo?"

korekiyo looks up, meeting his boyfriend's worried eyes and being dragged out of his thoughts.

"you were zoning out again... was i boring you?"

"ah-! nothing of the sort... no."

rantaro brushes some of his grassy colored hair away from his eyes.

"something's wrong. it... tell you what. i know it's early, but bring me, your headphones, a blanket, and some food. we're going on a surprise date."

"eh...? ran... my dear, all is okay-"

"it isn't... and i've wanted to clear my head too. i'll go to my park, and bring you too! i haven't eaten my toast yet." the shorter boy chuckles, jogging lightly in the camera, the phone shaking as he does.

korekiyo nods, sitting up and grabbing leftovers from the fridge. they were only a couple of days old, and were made by rantaro himself. the shorter wasn't an excellent cook, leaving behind burnt sandwiches, but they were made up for by small little love notes packed away in a lunch bag.

he slips on a jacket, plugging in a pair of headphones and leaving the apartment, walking along the street.

"ooh, looks dark there."

"well, who's the cretin who invited me to a picnic at 3 AM?"

"don't change the topic."

korekiyo chuckles, focusing on the soft tapping of his heels against the sidewalk. it was quiet, the only noise being the gentle humming of the street lights. the park was relatively silent as well, placed by a small pond. he sits down, placing his boyfriend against a nearby bench leg.

"hey! no fair, you didn't have to walk as far!" the green-haired boy pouts, sitting down as well.

"pff- people are going to think you're mad, you big doofus."

"well? i love my goth boyfriend!!"

"goth, huh?"

they both chuckle, looking up at their respective skies.

korekiyo looks up at the night, almost no different than when he closes his eyes. the darkness enveloping all, except for the soft light of the moon and stars, beaming down on him.

rantaro swings his legs, pointing out shapes of clouds he sees to korekiyo, giggling to himself. the green boy was easily amused, enjoying the little clouds that reminded him of animals or objects.

in a way, it was kind of romantic.

yin and yang, korekiyo might say.

rantaro, the light and day. korekiyo, the dark and night.

he chuckles, reading the small note from the bag.

"hiya, lovely! please remember to eat, and i love you dearly!"

and korekiyo felt complete again.
