The Oak family is really pride full, they do anything to be better than others and that includes making the ones that are a threat at their popularity live in hell.

That's what happened to our protagonist. Professor Oak saw that Ash was a prodigy so he and his grandson Gary speards lies and they try to hinder his learning, which didn't work since he use the computer of the local library to study.

The lies?
They said that Ash is an idiot that won't be able to take care of his pokemon, let alone go on a pokemon journey and the town believed them because Professor Oak is a very famous pokemon researcher and pokemon professor. His mother didn't believe them and tried to support Ash at the beginning but she is easily affected from others opinion and when the other towns people start telling her that her son is a useless idiot that can't do anything right she started to believe them and when she completely believed them she started to treat him like he is dirt.

Ash just avoided the bullies and the town's people by going to the library since the no-one goes there anymore and studies for his pokemon journey he already learned how to camp in the wild and how to make healthy food, both human and pokemon.
