Darkness.

Everything around me was engulfed in a darkness so dark I could not even make out the silhouette of my father, who was standing only inches in front of me.

Around us hushed voices whispered in anticipation. The Dark Lord was coming.

Suddenly a flash of green illuminated the room. As my fellows gasped in delight I squinted, cowering behind my father's body to shield my eyes from the emerald glare.

With a flick of the Dark Lord's wand, candles were lit, their flames green and flickering. We were about to begin.

I had seen the Dark Lord on a few occasions previously, my father being one of the most loyal Death Eaters. The experiences had never been overwhelmingly positive, but my father was proud of me, his only daughter. He liked to show me off.

"Leave us." The Dark Lord commanded, and I almost let out a sigh of relief. My feet shifted to leave but my father grabbed hold of my hand, halting me on the spot. That is when I realized I was part of the us meant to be left alone.

The room emptied until only five of us stood in the presence of the Dark Lord. My eyes flickered to the right and fell upon the gaze of a terrified looking Draco Malfoy. He stood stiff and straight in between his protective parents.

"Lucius, I have bestowed an important task upon your son." Voldemort announced. Draco's eyes flashed over to his mother, who nodded reassuringly. They already knew what the task was.

"However, I fear that may have been a mistake. Such an important task delegated to such a young boy."

"My Lord if I may, Draco is-" Lucius attempted to speak but was cut off.

"Sofian your daughter's name?" My heart skipped a beat as the Dark Lord's eyes tore into mine. I knew I was supposed to reply but my tongue felt twisted and inflated, choking me into silence.

"Ember Rosier, my Lord." My father replied.

"Step forwards Ember Rosier." He summoned, and as if his voice were a spell my feet dragged me closer until I was standing only inches away. Suddenly I felt his presence inside of my head, which was growing like a balloon one was pumping full of air, almost to the point of explosion. "I have given Draco an impossible task. If he is fails there will be consequences. You are to be that consequence. Your family's bloodline and loyalty are impressive and therefore I have decided to give you the chance to prove yourself to me. Should Draco Malfoy fail to deliver you will be the one to kill him."

Darkness once more.
