It was Saturday evening at about 6:30pm. Jimmy had had his bath and was currently trying out his dress for Ms. Noelle's party. It was a pair of brown slacks on a turtleneck black polo whose sleeves stretched out to his hands at full length.

Jimmy starred at himself in the mirror. His looks emboldened him. He put on his new pair of shoes which had cost him a fortune in getting them. He had no intention of looking cheap to the party of a lady with so much class as Ms. Noelle. The attire was expensive but so worth it.

He took another satisfactory look at himself in the mirror and smiled. He wasn't looking bad at all. He picked up his spray and donned some perfume on himself brushed his facial hairs and finally picked up his car keys from the bedside drawer ready for departure.

He stood for a few minutes at his doorstep and said a silent prayer. If all went well, tonight he'd finally get a chance to speak to Ms. Noelle and tell her how he really felt about her. To hell with her class and influence, Jimmy thought. She was still a woman, a soft and vulnerable specie and he would man up and talk to her no matter what it cost him. He couldn't continue to suffer and bottle up his feelings this way. It was eating him up gradually. Where he came from, it was considered as outright folly for a full man to be scared of a mere woman. Tonight was the night of no return without the desired results.

He strode confidently into his car, sat on the driver's seat for a little while until the engine revved to life. Then, he drove out into town.
Noelle would be his finally.

Ms. Noelle was looking particularly beautiful that evening. She had on het a white silk flowing evening gown which hugged her skin so perfectly that she looked like an angel sent directly from heaven by God himself. If only angels lived on Earth.

She had on her neck an expensive attractive jewelry which sparkled like diamonds each time like fell on it and wore simple make up that fitted her face with perfection.

Guests were due to start arriving at the party by 7pm at most. Jimmy walked I'm at about 7:10pm and took a comfortable seat in the arena.

The house was beautiful in it's own right, Jimmy admitted to that. It was the type of house suitable for a beauty queen like Ms. Noelle. The caterers soon started their work and served food and drinks to the guests. Noelle moved round exchanging lovely smiles and pleasantries with her guests. It was a beautiful evening.

Jimmy had been unlucky enough to sit close to the incompetent and poke nosing secretary Katherine during the occasion because she was quite a chatterbox.

She kept trying to have forced conversations with Jimmy who somehow managed to elude her constant chatter at such intervals. Sadly, she never gave up. Jimmy hated to deal with desperate women. He preferred the strong and 'hard to get' ones like Miss Noelle. He was attracted to women who understood her important they were and never fought their ways into a man's heart, not the noisy chatterbox sitting next to him who knew nothing about self-respect.

"Hey Jimmy", she once again interrupted his thoughts.
"It's Mr. Carter Ms. Katherine. What is it again"? He managed a half smile.
"Come on....don't be so grumpy. Besides, we're out of the office. And it's called a party", she made a gesture with her hands and continued almost immediately, "A place where people come to have some fun and socialize with other people."
"Whatever Miss. I just don't want to be scolded into having a conversation with you right now, please", he replied with a look of exasperation in his face. He didn't mean to sound that harsh, but the lady deserved it. He had no intention of continuing the conversation. If only she could understand this and allow him enjoy admiring his lovely boss this evening in peace.

Ms. Noelle moved towards his direction just as she caught a quick glance from him and their eyes met. A look of recognition flashed between them. Jimmy's heart skipped a beat and he tried hard to maintain his composure. This lady had the habit of making him lose his composure each time he was with her. He'd to remain properly comported tonight no matter what.
