monday noon

"thank you again for driving me," sakusa thanked you while getting inside the front seat of the car, "fucking tsukasa-san left with komori to watch a team in the morning. sorry if it was a hassle to pick me up." he said.

"ugh... you're making it seem like such a big deal" you turned on the engine and looked at him, "it'd literally no problem! where's komori?"

the ace turned to you and gave you an eye smile since he had his mask on. you grinned back and he turned his focus back out of the window.

a 30 minute drive with a germaphobe who makes genius comebacks. thinking of it, when nationals started he hasn't made a single rude comment about you. he even sometimes takes his mask around you and shares his hand sanitizer with you. weird.

"ya know, sakusa, how are you comfortable with me?" you asked, right hand on the steering wheel, "i mean, you could've just taken the bullet train there, right?"

"eh, the train is dirty. your car is alright, i guess."

you laughed at his statement and nodded.

no one talked after that. he wouldn't make conversation, and when you do, he either doesn't answer or takes too long to respond.

"sakusa, i have a question."

he hummed.

"one of the miya twins, the guy with the blonde hair? why does he make such a big deal about you?" you questioned, "are you guys best friends?"

sakusa nodded and fixed his nicely-done hair in the mirror, "yeah, we are. met him in my first year, he's annoying but he's alright."

"you didn't answer my first question."

sakusa's eyes widened. he tried to dodge it but you caught on quickly; it took him about half a second to come up with an answer that won't be suspicious.

"inside joke. turn here, it's a shortcut."

both of you arrived at the stadium 10 minutes early, trying to look for a black, gold and white team.

fukurōdani was in the finals, against ichabiyashi. every single person in the big building had their eyes on them. talk about nerve wracking, you thought.

the two teams were on center court. all of the people's eyes in the stadium were all on them, making the match special yet frightening. echoes of cheers and shouts for each school were ringing in your ears; the hands felt like they were closing in around you.

though, crowds were not the best thing for you, you couldn't help but think about how sakusa is feeling right now. you looked at him and you could tell he was uncomfortable.

you tapped his right shoulder, "y'alright?"

the ace looked at you and shook his head hastily, "nah, not really, but it's okay," he said, "do you know where komori is? or even atsumu? anyone?" a small hint of panic could be sensed in his voice.

you hurriedly took out your phone and messaged his cousin to get him out of an uncomfortable situation. you were in the walkway things and other people kept hitting your shoulders as they walked by.

"do you just wanna keep walking? are ya okay with that, sakusa?"

he nodded.
