Evelyn groaned softly as her feet were thrown out from under her, sending her flying to the ground. "You have to be quicker than that Ev." A male voice said. Evelyn pulled herself up and turned to glare at the man. "I know that Josh. Can we please take a break? I'm exhausted." She said. Josh approached her, easily standing a good five inches taller than her. His curly brown hair stuck to his forehead with sweat, his green eyes narrowed. He was the spitting image of her, though his features were harder than hers were and her hair was a lot longer. "If a vampire came to attack you they wouldn't give you a break." He bit out. Evelyn rolled her eyes. "Vampires don't attack witches unless the witch provokes them. I haven't provoked any vampires lately so I'm perfectly safe." She replied sternly. "Gosh I hate having an older brother." She said before turning and leaving the basement, or like Josh liked to call it, their training room.

She stopped about halfway up the stairs, sensing something not human. "Speaking of filthy vampires. Your idiotic friend Derek is here." She called back down to Josh right when the door swung open. Evelyn's breath caught in her throat just like it did every time she saw Derek. His dark brown hair was swept off to the right side of his face. His deep brown eyes alight with amusement and something else when they saw her. Instead of his normal gauge he was wearing a black one with a skull in the center. "Are you trying to frighten little children Derek?" She asked once she got her breath back. "Of course not. Just you darlin." He said, his deep, gruff voice making her knees go weak just like it always did.

Evelyn scoffed and continued up the stairs past him. "Well it's not working." She huffed as she passed him. Before she could get out the door Derek grabbed her wrist. The touch sent shivers up her spine. "Let me go Derek." She said, glancing back at him. "Don't go outside Evelyn. There are a lot of vampire prowling around. I don't want you getting hurt." He said before letting her go and disappearing down the stairs. Evelyn stood there for a minute before turning away and heading towards her room, shaking her head slightly.
She flopped onto her bed with a soft sigh. "Stupid vampires." She said before falling asleep.

"Evelyn!" Evelyn sat up straight in her bed. She quickly jumped out of her bed, grabbing the stake under her pillow. She was about to run downstairs to see what was happening when an arm wrapped around her waist and pulled her back. "Where you going princess?" A deep voice whispered in her ear. She shuddered slightly when she felt his cold breath fan across her neck. Without thinking as she plunged her stake into the vampire behind her and ran.
"Josh!" She called out hoping he was alright. She practically flung herself down the stairs and into the living room. She froze when she saw what was happening. Both Josh and Derek were on their knees. Derek with a wooden blade to his neck, Josh with a silver one. Josh looked like he was about to faint while Derek just looked pissed.

"What the hell is going on here?!" Evelyn asked, glancing towards the couch where she knew a stake was hidden. If only she could get to it. When no one answered her she lunged for the couch, easily dodging one vampire that ran at her. The next one was not so easily dodged. He grabbed her and threw her against a wall. "Evelyn!" Both Derek and Josh yelled, their voices filled with concern. She ignored them both as she slowly dragged herself to her feet. Before she could do anything a vampire had her pinned up against the wall, her hands above her head and his body pressed up against hers.

She glanced down when she felt something wet against her stomach. Blood, and lots of it. "Hmm. That looks like it must have hurt. Sorry about that." she mocked. The vampire growled softly. "You took me off guard upstairs. It wont happen again." he said as he leaned towards her. With his free hand he grabbed her chin and tilted her head to the side, exposing her neck.

"Don't touch her!" Derek growled out. The vampire ignored him and sunk his teeth into Evelyn's neck, forcing a scream out of her lungs. She struggled to get out of his grip, but it was no use. She wasn't as strong as he was. The vampire groaned softly against her neck, pressing his body closer to hers. She kicked at him, pissed that he was getting sexual pleasure out of this while all she got was pain.

"Your powers Evelyn. You have to use them. I know it's hard, but you have to" josh prompted. Evelyn closed her eyes, taking in a shaky breath. She could feel herself getting weaker by the minute. She concentrated hard on getting her powers to work, but she was just too weak. "I-I can't." She managed to get out, though it was barely above a whisper. Only seconds after she has spoken the vampire disappeared, making her fall to the ground. Confused, she looked up to see what happened.

Derek was standing above her, his eyes red with fury. She shuddered and looked away. He terrified her when he got like that. She squeezed her eyes shut when she heard Derek throw a vampire across the room. Before long all the vampires were fleeing from the house. Evelyn tried to stand, but ended up falling back down because she was too weak. Derek and Josh were at her side in an instant.

Derek scooped her up into his arm bridal style. "We need to get her out of here. Clearly they want to kill her and we can't let that happen." Josh said. Derek started to reply, but Evelyn heard none of it as she passed out.
