He woke up in cold sweat, shaking and breathing heavily. The nightmares have been getting worse lately. And he just started to think he made peace with the past. "Apparently not," he whispered under his breath and went to fix himself a drink. Alcohol was his best friend whenever he wasn't able to sleep. He took his journal and wrote the nightmare in like he always did. It was almost full of those. As his head got heavy thanks to the booze, he went back to sleep for a few uneasy hours.
The sun caressed Cas's pale cheeks and made him sneeze. It was one of those annoyingly beautiful sunny days, where everyone's happily playing outside. He hated those; he despised those kinds of days. He made himself his favorite coconut cappuccino put on a striped button-up, a black tie, and pants with a belt. That was his comfort outfit that made him feel like a badass. He drove to the hospital in his silver T-Roc, parked, and went inside. As usual, he had appendectomy first thing in the morning followed by an open heart surgery and ending his shift with gastric bypass. He enjoyed his work, even though it wasn't to help others. He enjoyed the feeling of blood on his hands and the sight of a beating heart made his cold heart a bit less stiff. He went to the lockers, side to side with his fellow surgeons, but he wasn't talking to them. The kind artist was still roaming his insides, making him more and more irritated every moment. The thing about her that bothered him the most was that she was no different than most of his play toys, but for some reason she left a mark on him.
"I'll do what I have to do," he murmured out loud.
"What was that Cas?" asked Brigitte concerned.
"Oh, nothing. I just remembered, uhh, that I ran out of cappuccino, and got to buy some. What's a surgeon without caffeine, am I right?"
Everyone around him laughed. He didn't even get the joke, but he knew he can't act weird, so he laughed alongside them. He passed dozens of people, not bothering for any of them. His eyes stopped on something behind the mass of people in the hallway. It was her again. 'Is she stalking me?' he said to himself almost falling down the stairs. She didn't seem to notice him and as he tried to approach her, she disappeared into the crowd. He stopped and looked around in panic as he had just seen a ghost. "You okay doctor?" asked Susan.
"I just... Yea, I'm alright. Thank you for your concern," Cas tried to brush her off.
Everyone knew that Susan had a crush on him since he started working at that hospital. He wasn't interested in her but still stayed polite and just dodged the subject whenever she asked him out for coffee or movies. He hurried down the stairs, sat in his car half paranoid, and drove away without even checking out of work. Anxiety was squeezing his chest into an enchanting loop that was suffocating him. Horrible flashbacks of his aunt were rushing through his mind and he blacked out for a moment. A honk of a horn woke him out of trans, and he frantically stopped the car just a second before he'd crash into a bakery. Sweat was dripping off him, making his shirt see-through.
"What is happening to me?" he yelled, and tears gathered in the corners of his eyes.
He parked the car in the nearest parking lot and continued on foot, it was too risky for him to drive. A cold wind blew past him and made his soaked body shiver. And for the icing on the cake, it started raining.
It was such a horrible day for Cassian that he skipped lunch and rather took a hot bath. The smell of lavender shampoo made him feel better again. All relaxed he had one thought on his mind. "Kill, kill, kill her..." he repeated over and over and over again. He already made a plan and all he needed was to learn where she lives and execute the operation.
"Hey there Fred! I need a favor," he told his friend as he picked up his phone.
"What can I do for you, mate?"
"I need you to check someone's medical file and tell me their address."
"Cas, you know I can't. I'm working at the morgue; I don't have the clearance."
"If I remember correctly, Mary works at pediatrics and I bet you'd rather see your wife fired than dead, huh?"
He needed that information and he'd do anything to get it, even if it meant to ruin the last semi-normal relationship he had.
"You wouldn't... Okay, okay. I'll help you. Give me a minute..."
Cas told him her name; it was so unique there was no way there was more than one Kye in the city, he said to himself. Frederic disappeared for a moment and when he returned his voice was shaky like he just stopped crying.
"15 Linton Grove, West Norwood," he replied to Cassian's hey.
"Thank you, my friend. You saved my life."
As he ended the call, he scribbled the address on a piece of paper and put on his usual killer outfit. It just got dark and it finally stopped raining.
As he arrived at her house, he was getting nervous. She wasn't the usual victim. He usually seduced them half-drunk at the bar. She was pushing him out of the comfort zone. He rang the bell and waited. She opened quickly.
"What're you doing here this late Cas?" she asked sleepily.
"I'm sorry. I had a hard day and thought we could share this," he showed her a bottle of brand-new Rosé.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Yea of course, come in," she invited him, already in her PJs.
She closed the door behind her, and he stopped in the middle of the hallway. She smiled at him vaguely. Cas noticed the stench of alcohol on her.
"I already had a glass. Well more like a glass too many," she giggled.
The doc knew that it was going to be easier than he thought. He leaned on her and pressed his lips against hers. He felt electricity flowing between them so he pulled away. Scared of the unimaginable emotions that filled him, he dropped the bottle. She grabbed his face and pressed him against the wall.
"I liked you, since the moment you crashed into me, sir," she whispered in his ear.
She returned the kiss and kept on kissing his soft pink lips. Cassian almost forgot why he was there. He slowly reached into his pocket.
"Wait! How did you get my address?" she pulled away this time.
But before she even had the chance to step away, he pressed an injection against her and emptied the content into her neck. Her eyes fell shut and her body crashed to the floor. He couldn't move for a second. It was all so new to him. The emotions and someone sincerely liking him... He gathered his thoughts and picked her up. He put her on the back seat and placed cuffs around her wrists.
It took her an hour until she woke up. She was in the room with the white carpet, which was lightly illuminated by blue and red light.
"Hello," she cried into the twilight.
"Welcome beautiful. I'm glad you're awake. We're going to have so much fun together." Cas approached her smiling like a creep, so she moved as far away as she could. Her head was still heavy from the sedative.
"What did you do to me?" she whispered not so scared anymore.
"Someone's getting courageous. Isn't that so baby girl?"
She giggled and straightened her back.
"If you'd do your homework, you'd knew I'm a boy."
That got Cassian deeply confused.
"You're a... man?!" he remarked slowly stepping a bit backward.
"Yes sir. You kissed a man," the boy smirked as he was trying to out his kidnaper.
"I kissed a boy. But... I liked it?!" Walker repeated and put his right palm to his lips.
"Yes, you did. And it was an amazing first kiss if I might add," the boy replied not being scared at all anymore.
"Shut up," Cas whispered. "Shut the hell up," he yelled then kicking the boy in the face, so he fell silently on the ground. He wasn't moving anymore. But neither was Cassian.
"I... kissed... a.... boy," he tried to understand the fact that he was gay. That boy made him realize it, and now he hated himself more than any day before.
