Khushi was still lost in her thoughts when she heard some glass break, and she lost her balance, dropping back on the bed.

She looked down, confused and saw Arnav's hand on the glass. Her eyes widening as she saw the blood on the floor.

"Arnavji." She shrieked as Arnav stood up.

"Tumhara dhayan kahan tha Khushi?" He jerked his hand to make the glass pieces fall on the floor. "Abhi kuch ho jata tumhein tu?" He gritted his teeth. (where was your attention, Khushi? If something happened to you?)

That's when Khushi realized what could have happened if Arnav didn't come on time.

Seeing Khushi step down on the broken glass, Arnav at once dashed towards her and kept his left hand under her feet, making his own hand get pierced with glass and not her feet.

Tears rolled down her eyes. Arnav shook his head, trying to calm down his racing heart beat. He went to his cupboard and quickly wrapped a kerchief around the wound. He was diabetic and he knew that blood loss is not good for him.

Walking back, he picked Khushi and placed her on the other side of the bed, away from the glass pieces. Sitting in front of her, he gazed at her.

Tears streamed down her face as she gazed back at her husband. The same person she could have hugged without a second thought, before that day.

But now it was difficult.

"You know I am still your Arnav, Khushi." Arnav slowly said, as he let a tear roll down. Khushi gulped and in the next second, she launched herself on Arnav, crying hysterically.

"I am so scared." She cried as he took her in his lap. "Sssshhh." Arnav caressed her back and hair, soothingly. "I am here Khushi." He dropped a kiss on her hairs.

"Agar ap na aate tu-" she couldn't complete as once again she broke down. (if you haven't come then-)

"Magar mein aa gaya na?" He patted her back and then made her lie down. "Sleep Khushi. Everything's okay." He caressed her head, while she closed her eyes. (but I came right?)

Arnav got up and cleaned the broken pieces. Then he left, taking the car keys with him.

After half an hour, he came back with his hand stitched and bandaged. Eating medicine with water, he changed and laid on the bed.

"Arnavji." He heard her whisper.

"You are still awake?" He asked surprised.

"Can-" she hesitated.

"Say Khushi." He turned towards her.

"I am scared." She looked so vulnerable that Arnav felt his heart break. She was still under the affect of that incident.

"Can you hold me, for tonight?" She asked, looking in his eyes.

"Come." Arnav spread his left arm and gestured Khushi to come close. Khushi scooped close and held his shirt on his chest. Arnav brought the bandaged hand on her shoulder and hugged her close.

"Sleep." He muttered and soon they both were in deep slumber.

The next morning, both were back to their previous behaviors. Khushi kept herself away from Arnav and he too didn't make any attempt to console her.
