"Blair?! Oh uhhh," I pause, running to the nearest object that allows me to check my reflection. I find a spoon and fluff up my hair, trying to make myself look more presentable despite the fact that Blair is currently unaware of what I look like. "Yeah, it's Serenity. Sorry about that" I chuckle nervously. I basically just called him my mom. Cue the mental face palm.
"Aha, it's alright. I've been in a similar situation if you consider calling your teacher mom?" He chuckles in reply, decreasing the uneasy nervous feeling that built a fire in my stomach moments ago. Just calm down, he's just a guy. A really adorable, cute, electrifying guy with the ideal personality to match. "Anyway, I just thought I'd give you a call.. What are you doing tomorrow?"
Suddenly, the air is sucked from my lungs and I feel myself gasp for it. Is this his, let's say, silent way of asking me out? Oh shut up Serenity, he's just asking you a general question. As I battle out with my subconscious I go through everything that I'll be doing tomorrow and my only availablity is in the morning, thanks to Christmas.
"I've got dinner plans with my family" I respond, sighing out a large breath that Blair is sure to hear. "Christmas is a blessing and a curse"
"I completely understand, how are you for around lunch? I was wondering if we could meet somewhere. I have no one to celebrate with tomorrow therefore I've nothing to do" He adds a sad chuckle at the end that makes me feel for him, he has no one to celebrate with tomorrow? What a shame. Then suddenly, a thought comes to mind.
"Blair, would you like to come over tomorrow morning? I mean.. I don't exactly have anything to give you as a gift but it's better than spending Christmas alone right?" I ask, pacing back and forth in the kitchen on edge while waiting for a reply. He's silent for a minute, and it is driving me insane until I hear an answer.
"Sure, I'll be there. Just send me your address and I'll be around at say, nine o'clock?" I feel giddy with the answer, and I barely notice myself dancing around while butterflies dance in my stomach. Little do I realize that throughout my gleeful act millions of questions race through my mind, do I dress nicely? Should I make him breakfast? Should I wear make up or not? "Hello?" Blairs voice breaks me out of my trance.
"Uh- Sorry. Yes, it sounds like a plan. I'll text you the details and see you tomorrow?" I ask as if I'm reassuring myself, and suddenly Jess appears at the entrance of the kitchen. She begins mouthing unreadable words, and all I do is shrug my shoulders and give her a what-the-hell-are-you-talking-about face.
"Who the hell is that?" She whisper yells through gritted teeth and all I do is smile.
"Sounds like a plan, I'll text you later Serenity- Uh, can I ask you a question?" He inquires. I reply with a simple 'go ahead' and he clears his throat, "Can I call you by a nickname? I mean, sometimes Serenity is a bit of a mouthful. It's a beautiful name, stunning really. But Serenity is quite a lengthy name.." he pauses and I sense his nervousness, making me smile even wider to the point where I'm biting my lip again. "Sorry, I must sound so rude. I'll just stick with Serenity I'm sorry-"
"No Blair, it's fine. That's why occasionally Jess calls me by my childhood nickname.. Which isn't exactly my favourite nickname" I look up and see Jess on verge of pouncing on me, and it is then when I realize I still haven't answered her. "I'll be just a second, literally" I tell Blair and cover the microphone of my phone. "It's Blair!" I whisper scream and Jess begins grinning cheekily before she scurries off to leave me alone. "I'm back"
"So your nickname.. Maybe we can discuss it tomorrow yeah?"
"Definately" I grin in reply then dart my eyes to the owl clock hanging in the kitchen, reading the time. If I want to be up and ready by the time Blair gets here I'll have to get my beauty sleep immediately. "Uh hey Blair. I think it's time for me to get to bed, if I want to be up by the time you get here " I chuckle into the phone and I draw a slight laugh from his lips.
