I Said Yes Part Two

(Y/N) sat in the burrow. Events from the night before flash through her mind. She squeezed her eye shut to block the images of Fred's dead body on the ground, pale and lifeless from one second, from one spell, one flick of the wand. She fell back onto her bed. No doubt George was downstairs, and no doubt he wouldn't be coming out of his room for days, if not weeks.

She stared up at the ceiling.

A perfect sunny day. Golden light stream through branches of a great willow tree. Friends and family are all sitting in chairs on the lawn. Her half muggle and half wizard family are all tearing up. The Weasley's are just as happy. (Y/N)'s hair cascades in soft curls down her shoulders. She smiles as she looks up at her almost-to-be husband.

Fred's hair is on fire with the light behind it and he is smiling, staring at her. He leans in and whispers, "I do."

But she doesn't feel the warmth of Fred or the contagious smile that goes with him so well. Instead, she is sitting in the uncharacteristically quiet burrow. Alone and thousands of miles from home. She sits up and stares in the mirror.

Fred is standing behind her. They're in a muggle hotel, it's Thanksgiving day tomorrow and with all of (Y/N)'s siblings, her parents' house was already packed and crowded enough.

"We'll be late if we don't hurry, Fred."

He just nods and smiles, wrapping his arms around (Y/N)from behind, "I think we can afford five minutes, Love. Just sit with me for a minute, I got you a gift I think you will love."

(Y/N) shakes her head and she is back in the mirror, standing and staring at herself. She knows these are just musings of a future that can't ever happen.

Fred sits on the chair next to (Y/N). This time they are in a muggle hospital. He is staring deeply into a screen showing a live video of  (Y/N)'s stomach. An ultrasound. His voice is foggy, "I guess muggles do have some pretty cool stuff."

(Y/N) goes and sits in the garden. It seems ridiculous to even be thinking about this, but the future that was so quickly taken from her hurts. A searing pain in her chest that she knows won't go away. Not even when she says goodbye to the burrow for the summer. Not even when she comes back to make up her last year.

Fred is showing a little girl with brown hair, freckles, his slender face, and his freckles around the shop. He picks up all of the mostly harmless jokes, telling her what each does.

He looks up to (Y/N)and smiles, "She's brilliant, you know?"

(Y/N) nods, "She's ours."

"Weasley and Willets, of course, she'd be brilliant."

(Y/N) stared at the garden gnomes digging holes in the gardens. This isn't fair, she would never get to see what future she would have had with Fred.

"I said yes."
