Jessi’s POV
During the whole time we were at the table, Jacob’s mom was staring at me. The only time she took her eyes off me was when someone said hi and by this point, we haven’t met his dad yet.
When I and Jacob got up to go in the kitchen, she just watched as we went into the house.
There was nobody in the house because everybody was outside.
“Are you okay Jesie?”
“Umm yeah…Your mom hates me”
“No she doesn’t she just has a hard time accepting the girls me and my brother like but she’ll come around.”
“Seriously Jacob. There is no hard time accepting. She hates the fact that you and your brother are here with black women.”
“No it is not she is going to come around. I promise.”
“Jacob”, I said grabbing his hands, “I understand that you want your girlfriend and mom to get along, but it is not going to happen when she can’t even get past my skin color.”
“Do you want to leave?”
“I think I’m going to go and you just stay here.”
“Please don’t leave. It would make me sad.” He said putting and grabbing and rubbing my butt.
“…”
“Fine”
Then he wanted to introduce me to his father. His father was just like the mom except he said whatever was on his mind no matter how disrespectful and degrading it was. Not only did he disrespect me, but he also disrespected Keisha, Alex’s date.
Alex was not happy so he left with her and said he was never going to speak to them or come by ever again. Jacob on the other hand had some sort of different mind. He wanted to stay because I guess deep down inside, he really missed his dad. I understood that, but why should I have to stand there and get disrespected by people who don’t even know me.
“Please don’t leave. I’m sorry for what he said just please.”
“No. I will see you at home.”
Alex offered to give me a ride and I said okay.
He followed me to the front of the house and said, “Please stay.”
“No! He said those vile things to me and you expect me to stay. You can stay and make up wit them, but I don’t care for their approval. Now I will see you at home.”
Jacob’s POV
I feel horrible for just standing there and letting the girl I love get disrepected but there was this feeling inside me that wanted to make up with my father after years of not talking.
2 hours after Jessi left, the party was over. Driving home felt like it was only for 5 minutes because I was trying to think of what to say and apologize to Jessi.
“Hello?” I said walking in the house.
I walked to my room and looked around. Her stuff in the bathroom was gone and her clothes from the draws and closet were gone.
“Jessi?!”
“Jessi?!
“Jacob, Jacob whats wrong?” I heard her say grabbing my face.
“I t-thought you left”, I said crying dropping down to my knees resting my hands and head on her waist.
“I just moved back to my old room.”
“Why? I mean I know it was bad, but I’m sorry and I will never let anyone disrespect you again.”
“Please move back into the room. I’ve gotten so used to you being in my bed that it’s going to be foreign to me sleeping alone. Please.”
“Fine.”
She moved back within the hour and we were sitting in bed working on some files together.
I just looked at her and smiled because she is the best girlfriend any guy could have and without thinking or considering if she felt the same way I said,
“I love you.”
“Oh ummm….”
