The rainy season has begun. Last year's dry season was the worst anyone had ever seen. The news spread like the floodwaters engulfing the land once occupied by lion prides, prompting pride males and bachelors alike to take desperate measures. Prides are being massacred by frenzied prey, drowning in rushing waters, and pride males are being killed off by bachelors looking to take over the pride during the last days of the sun.

Males were too preoccupied to lead their females, leaving them vulnerable to abandon their allegiance and seek a better life rather than defending a hopeless territory. The origins of this natural disaster are unknown.
A party of ten East African lionesses was drenched, agitated, and hungry.
