Lahela sat at the bar, with her head propped on her hand, her manicured fingers tapping on her jaw. She twirled the small cocktail straw around the rim of her glass and blew a breath out through her lips.
She would be lying if she said she wasn't a little upset about how Orion had reacted. She also had to admit that she was very mad at herself for getting caught up in the moment and kissing him without asking. She wanted to apologize, but he wasn't picking up his phone. She understood, but she just hoped he made it home alright.
She frowned as she picked up her glass to take a sip. Lahela found herself still curious about what exactly Orion was. He couldn't be a siren, like herself. She would have known immediately if he was.
Lahela turned around in her seat to lean back against the bar. She had no earthly idea what he might be. She knew he was something. Magic rolled off of him in pulses. Lahela didn't know what that magic was, but it was something. Lahela realized with a pout that it was entirely possible Orion was a warlock. She didn't like how boring that sounded.
Lahela reached into her bag and pulled out the rumpled napkin. It had a phone number and underneath it read, "Charlie XOXO." She still wanted to know who Charlie was. She was even ashamed to admit she was a bit jealous of her, whoever she was.
Lahela looked up at the brightly colored lights in the ceiling and sighed. She made a promise to herself to apologize to Orion whenever she worked up the nerve to. She hoped it was sooner rather than later, but she knew herself better than anyone, and she knew it was going to be a least a few days.
The DJ's voice played over the speakers when the previous song had stopped. "Alright my party peoples, last song of the night! If you want to get down one last time, now's the time time to do it!"
The crowd cheered. Lahela stood and downed the rest of her soda before she sauntered to the dance floor to dance with whoever would take her.
The final song of the evening came to life, and Lahela danced like nothing else mattered.
