Redacted lay awake on her bed, staring aimlessly at her phone and scrolling through social media. Today hadn't been the most interesting day, but she comforted herself with the notion that she herself was interesting, but that wasn't really enough when the most exciting thing to happen during the day was when you panicked in math class over a gamer boy you had a crush on sitting behind you, and deciding for the entire lesson over any game to play before realising that said boy had left the classroom 10 minutes ago.

Thinking about it made the day go from boring to something to be hopefully forgotten.

And as if the world was teasing her with more stuff to worsen her day, she got a message. Now, i'm not saying that Redacted was the type to completely ignore people if she didn't feel like communicating, but Redacted was the type to completely ignore people if she didn't feel like communicating. Talking to others often drained her. She was just about to decide that she would never respond to this message, but she realised that this person had never direct messaged her before. She could barely recognise the username- the-ultimate-hope. The name made her laugh. Who would call themselves that?

That kid from your old school would.

Redacted was moderately taken aback by this sudden piece of information, despite the fact that she had given this information through the use of her own brain. The kid that she had just thought of was her old classmate, back in primary school. His name was... Nagito? That sounded correct. Anyway, Nagito had always looked up to Hope's Peak Academy, in such a way that it kind of creeped her out, if she was honest. He left her school ages ago though- completely went off the grid. Some people said he'd been kidnapped. But then- right before everyone was about to enter high school- news was discussing the winner of being the Ultimate Lucky Student- and Nagito won. Maybe all that worshipping of Hope paid off in the end.

She groaned. Thinking about people like Nagito made her tired. What was the point anyway? She and Nagito weren't even close, so there was no reason for him to be talking to her. She'd hope not, anyways. It wasn't a good idea to immediately assume the worst before she had even seen the message.

... A long string of numbers, and a time and date. October 31st, 10:38, if she wanted to be specific. Perhaps she should be specific, considering whoever sent her the message was also being irrationally specific with the numbers.

She stared at the string of numbers for a while. Maybe it was a code to something? Or... an expiry date??? Deciding that she'd let herself be confused by it for too long, she sent the image to a friend, who immediately replied with what should've been a slightly more obvious answer considering how long she spent trying to figure it out.

  They were coordinates.

  What the fuck?

Why would anyone send something so bizarre? Who would do that?

The kid from your old school.

Sometimes she would wish for her brain to shut up, but it had a point here. Nagito would definitely do something like this. And when she checked where the coordinates were to see where she would have to go if she was stupid enough to do this, she was even more convinced it was him. Who else would get someone to meet him at the front of Hope's Peak Academy on such an insanely inconvenient time?

Anyway, it didn't matter, because she wasn't going to go. She ignored the lingering feeling of choosing the wrong option in a visual novel, and continued about her day.
