I don't know what prompted me to hug Derek. Maybe it's because of the fact that I'm so jealous of that Caleb guy that it ticked me off, or maybe I just want to hug Derek in general. Or maybe, it's both. I missed him. I missed him so much that it hurts. And even though he's physically here, in my arms, it feels like he's so far away.
Derek tenses, his body rigid. I rest my forehead at the back of his neck, taking in his cantaloupe smell that I've always liked. I know Derek likes to eat sweet melon, and he has a body wash that is cantaloupe-scented. For a moment, we stay like that, him standing still, my arms wrapped around him. Derek seems like he's been washed over, and tries to break free without saying anything.
