It felt like the day was never coming to an end; I knew I had to focus on my job, but I wasn't able to take my mind off the boy even for a second. Was it just a bad joke? Was he making fun of me? But...that couldn't be, how would he have known my name then?
Finally, my shift was over.
"Good job, y/n"
"Thank y-you capo, goodnight"

Luckily, my place was near the restaurant, so I could walk home with no problems.
I opened the door and was welcomed by the sweet smell of my mother's cooking. Both her and my dad have always been very patient and thoughtful with me, even though I'm perfectly aware that I'm not exactly the "perfect daughter". I'm not athletic nor popular, I just was never good with people. The only thing I was decent at was school, but that's not really special, studying is just my duty, right? I don't think I deserve to be praised for that.

"Welcome home sweetie, how was your first day at work?"
For a second, I considered telling her about my...encounter, but I really wouldn't have known how to explain it myself, so that probably wasn't a very good idea.
"It went...pretty good, I can't complain"
"That's good, your mother made your favourite dolce, you know, as a way to celebrate"
"It was your father's idea though!"
"Rally? Thank you so much!"
"You should probably go to change now, dinner will be ready in 15 minutes"
"Got it!"

Dinner was super good, not that I expected anything else from something cooked by mom.
They tried to ask me about my day at work, but there wasn't much to say; I was just a waitress, after all.
"I'm feeling kind of tired, I'll go to bed"
"Goodnight y/n"
"Goodnight tesoro"

Once I got under my warm, fluffy blanket, I though falling asleep would have been easy since I've had a pretty long day at work.
Boy was I wrong: I spent hours tossing and turning in bed, looking for a comfortable position, but I kept on rewinding the conversation with Giorno in my head.
It may seem stupid, but it was all so sudden, too much for me to handle.
Normal conversations in general were always a challenge for me, and this one definitely wasn't normal.

Finally, I fell asleep, only to be woken up two hours later by the sound of my alarm.
"Urgh just...five more minutes please"
RING RING
"Alright..."
I thought about calling in for sick, but this was just my second day, I didn't want to make a bad impression.
My shift wouldn't have started before midday, but I still had my holiday homework to do, so I couldn't just remain there the entire morning despite how much I wanted to.

After getting ready for the day, I picked up my rucksack to decide what to study today.
"Mh...maybe matematica?"
"Alright, let's see: 'Rosa invited some friends at her place and decided to bake some cakes for everybody; she makes a chocolate cake, a butterscotch cake and a strawberry cake. Each cake was divided in 8 slices, and her friends ate the 3/4 of the chocolate and butterscotch cakes but only 2/8 of the strawberry one. How many slices of cake are left if Rosa ate the rest of the first two cakes?'
This is easy! The answer is 4 slices of strawberry cake. If all the exercise are so simple I should get this done in no time.

After studying for a while, I decided to go outside and get some fresh air before work, staying inside the whole day wasn't exactly healthy.
It was a beautiful summer day: the sun was shining bright in the sky above me, accompanied by a nice breeze that made the temperature perfect. There were many groups of friends hanging out together, which made me feel kind of melancholic, since I wasn't really that close to anybody to the point of seeing each other outside of school.
In the crowd, I noticed three people that stood out a lot compared to anyone else: it was Giorno and two of his friends. I recognised those two: one of them was the short boy that handed me the fork, and the other one was the dude sitting next to him that wore a red and blue sweater...in the middle of summer.

My thoughts started to run in a circle: should I say hi? Should I wait for him to say something? Should I-
"Hey y/n"
"Oh um...hi G-Giorno!"
"I saw you standing here looking kind of panicked, is everything ok?"
"YES I'M GOOD"
"..."
"Gosh I...I raised m-my voice,didn't I?"
"It's fine"
He warmly smiled at me, I haven't seen that smile in a long time...
"Hey! Aren't you the girl from yesterday?"
"T-that'd be me, yes"
"So you two know each others! Yeah it definitely makes more sense now"
"Um..."
"I'm Narancia Ghirga!"
"It's a p-plesure meeting you Mr. Ghirga"

I slightly bowed.
Both Narancia and the other boy started laughing out loud.
"D-did I say s-something bad?!"
"No no it's fine, it's just...you're a funny girl, y/n"
"Thank you...Mr. Ghirga"
They laughed even harder than before.
"Quit it you two"
"Eheh sorry Giorno, just call me Narancia, ok?"
"O-okay"
"And I'm Guido Mista!"
"It's nice to meet you"
"Well, my friends and I were just about to head to the restaurant, I'm guessing your shift is about to begin so...why don't we walk to the place together?"
"You're right Giorno, my boss will get m-mad if I'm late. The...Others aren't here today?"
"No, they had some...business to attend to. Let's go now"
"I'll lead the way!"
Said Narancia, with a confident look on his face.

I smiled to myself a little, I knew this wasn't exactly a group of "friends" but...It felt nice to finally be included in something like this.
