Friend

I wake up and hear the rain outside. I love the rain. It always has this effect on me. I love listening to sad music when it rains. It makes me so happy, I don't know why.

I get up and go take a shower, I put Skinny Love By Bon Iver on my speaker and blast it while I take my shower.

After I finish my shower I choose a simple outfit. I wear a white tank and some off white high waisted pants. I put on some warm socks because I don't really have any plans to go out today.

I let my hair down, put my products on and let it air dry. I go to my kitchen and make some scrambled eggs and pour myself a cup of O.J. I put my AirPods in and keep playing Skinny Love By Bon Iver on repeat.

After my food is ready I place it to the side and start to set up my couch. It finally arrived last night and I'm very happy. I start to set it up, it gets a little confusing at parts but overall it was pretty easy to set up.

I place my rug on the floor and then I place the couch. My T.V. still needs to be put up and I also still need to connect the WiFi so I just use my laptop to watch shows.

As I'm eating and watching Sex Education on Netflix I hear a knock at my door. "Probably Colton" I mutter to myself. I go and check the peephole and it's not Colton. I'm confused, it's a very pretty girl, she's facing away from the door so I can't really see her. I decide not to open the door and go back to my couch. I get a message.

Sara:
Hey!! I'm at your door open up!!

I couldn't believe it. My best friend from L.A. came to visit me! I ran to the door. "Hey Sara!!!" We both hug each other for a minute.

"Hey Thena! I missed you so much. I decided to come visit for a while." She says as I let her into my apartment.

"Aww. Thank you for coming. I was starting to feel very lonely here. I'm glad you came I missed you a lot too. So where are you staying?" I ask her while she's looking around my apartment.

"Oh, I got an Airbnb for a week. It's really close so I can come visit. Also, I know you're probably wondering how I even made it past the security, well I literally had to pull out photos of the both of us together, I had to show ID and other stuff."

I laugh. "Yeah, it was kind of like that for me too when I got here. I've only been here for like 4 days now and I think it's going pretty okay." I say as I sit down on the couch.

"There's still a lot of boxes. Do you want help? I can help you if you want."

"No I'm fine. I was going to work on that today but since you're here I don't want to take up your time with unpacking." I say as I get up to put my dishes in the sink.

"Actually, I'm pretty jet lagged. I think I'm going to check into my Airbnb and sleep for a while. When I wake up we can go get dinner or something. How does that sound? Don't think I'm bailing on you, I just need sleep." Sara says.

I'm so happy to see her. "Yeah, it will give me time to put more things up and organize. See you later." I say as she walks to the door and walks out.

"See ya." She closes the door.

As soon as the door closes I hear a knock. I open the door, "Sara, what did you forget?" I say and then I look up to see the person standing at my door.

"My name is Colton. Did you already forget that Athena?" He says as he gives a small laugh.

"Sorry, my friend came over and I—" I stop myself, I just met this guy, I don't need to give him all the details of my life. "Why did you knock?" I ask him.

"Because that's usually what people do they don't just barge in" He smiles. I roll my eyes.

"You know what I meant."

"Yeah I did. I just wanted to check on you. See if you needed a hand." He nods his head toward the boxes behind me.

"Oh, I'm doing fine. See, I would love the help but I don't want to be known as the annoying new neighbor who needs help all the time." I say to Colton.

"Well, that is true. I always think to myself 'this new neighbor is very annoying...and short'" He says while trying to stifle a laugh.

"Hey! It's not my fault. Wait what does being short have to do with any of this?!" I ask him.

"Well, nothing really, I just wanted to see how you'd react." He says with a smile.

"Very nice. Anything else?" I say.

"No, if you really don't need my help, then I guess I'll see you around." He says as he turns and goes into his apartment. I can't help but smile. I stand there for a few seconds. I walk into my apartment and close the door. I start to take boxes and unpack. After a couple hours, my bathroom and my living room are done.

They were looking really good and I decided to treat myself with vanilla ice cream.

It's 5 p.m. by this time. I hear knocking at my door. It's Sara. "Hey Sara, did you want to go to dinner now?" I ask her.

"How did you know? Oh my gosh, you're so smart." She says with a sarcastic tone.

"Very funny. Let me grab my purse and keys and we can go." I say, as she steps in.

"Wow, this place is really coming together." Sara says while looking at my living room.

"The bathroom is done too. If you want to see it." "I actually need to use it. I'll check it out right now." Sara says as she walks to the bathroom. She finishes after a couple of minutes. "The bathroom is phenomenal." She says. "Let's go before I decide I want to move into these apartments." She says. I laugh and we head down to the garage. We start to drive to the restaurant.
