It was not easy being an incredibly successful young woman. Having men doubting her every single time she breathed or trying to tell her what to do or whatsoever.
Men did not like to be bossed around by a woman and that was a fact. She knew that behind her back, they all either talked about her physical appearance or about how unfit she was for this job.
"However, Miss Paulson, if I may, you are the most successful woman of our city and one of the most powerful and influential ones in our country. Men opinions should not concern you that much, am I correct?" asked Theo, with his notebook on his hand, ready to take notes from Miss Paulson's answer.
Theo was a young man who, after writing his bestseller When skies are grey, had become quite known in the literary universe. He did write a book after that one, which was not as successful, but which still sold very well.
Despite being known and recognized, he was still quite surprised when he received the invitation from Miss Paulson to write her biography.
He had never seen her in real life, he had only heard about how influential and powerful she was. Moreover, he had seen her plenty of times on the television.
Dark brown, short hair, which was always very well brushed and done. Eyes that reminded him of autumn, since they were the colour of the leaves that fell from trees. Lips that were full and of a cherry tone. Skin that seemed very smooth and pale from the television screen. Miss Paulson was a very attractive woman who spoke in a very gentle and polite way. It was easy to fall in love with what you saw on the TV.
When he met her in real life, just a week ago, he could not hide his amazement and enchantment. She was, most definitely, the prettiest and most charming woman he had ever met. Her figure was even more breathtaking than what he imagined. She had a very elegant figure which was acentuated by the black dress she had put on today. Her lipstick was red and she had some eyeliner and mascara on her eyes. Her short hair was in waves today and he felt an urge to caress it and feel its smoothness.
Needless to say he could not quite concentrate on their first session together. Her mere presence intimidated him and was enough to leave him speakless and nervous. Every time he was required to speak, his voice would come off weak and shaky. She would smirk to him and tell him to take his time.
Today it was their second session and he was just as nervous as the first one, however this time, he brought all his questions written down on his notebook, so that he would not act ridiculously like last time.
"My dear, I trust you are no fool. You do know that we live in a world where women have little voice, right? Men's opinions are what people usually are interested in. Even if I don't particularly care about them, I can't dismiss them either". - replied Miss Paulson with the typical smirk she always wore. She got up from her chair and looked through the window of her office. She was thinking about how lucky she was to have such a beautiful and astonishing view right in front of her. It always gave her a sense of peacefulness and calmness.
She could not lie to herself. Theo was a handsome man, with his short, dark brown hair, which was perfectly done. His jawline, very well defined, gave him a peculiar attractiveness. His eyes were green and he had some beard, which was perfectly shaven, as if he had shaved if that morning before the session. Maybe he did shave it to look his best for her. She smirked with the thought and looked at him again, placing her hands on the table, leaning slightly towards him.
"I think I am done today, darling. Theo, I can call you Theo, right? Please come back next Friday, will you?" - she licked her lips and grabbed a small paper that was on top of the table, handing it to him "Here you have my number, in case you find yourself writing something and have any doubt". She grinned and extended her hand to him. They shook hands and Theo, with red cheeks, nodded, placing the paper on his pocket.
He got out of the office and headed down the street, feeling his cheeks still hot. Why was he such a fool? Miss Paulson talked to him and he just stared at her, not knowing what to say or do. He was a complete idiot and he did not know why he hadn't been dismissed from this job yet.
He went to a cafe and ordered a coffee and a cupcake. He went through the notes he had taken today, thinking that indeed being the CEO of an important company at such a young age and as a woman must be very hard.
A thought came in and he wrote it down. To write her biography, knowing about her work and how she got such a successful career was imperative and probably what most people would want to read. However, Emma Paulson wasn't just the CEO of the TLS' Company. She was also a twenty-eight year old woman with a personal life. That would be the next chapter: who was Emma Paulson?
