Han could swear the minute hand moved slower than usual. Only twenty minutes had passed and another good chunk of twenty minutes was left for the break.

The whole period He was staring at the abnormally clean desk with fresh paint or else all the normal desks he grew up seeing had curses, doodles, chewing gums, and even love declaration on it.
But he was getting used to seeing this abnormal desk every day, as all the desks in this school were abnormal because the school wasn't like any he used to study before.

Han didn't belong here. Students here booked a private room in high-end clubs to hang out, they had vacations houses for every season, and they would be escorted to school by their drivers in their expensive cars.
The students weren't the only one unusual but the whole freaking school was. They had chandeliers and horse riding field. If that isn't unusual enough they had a golf course too.

Han recalled his father's gleaming face when he told him he was promoted and transferred to the city. It has been only one month since they packed up all their belongings and shifted from the small town Harran to here, in this busy city. Life there was much simple than here. Everyone was a stranger here as none of their relatives lived here and shifting to a new home while adjusting to a new school was pretty hard. No actually whole damn torture for me.

His father was tired, he could see it in his face whenever he would come back from school and he pitted him.
Being a single father wasn't easy and having to adjust to this bigger world while looking after a skittish teenager made it much harder for him.

His whole mood drained as the chain of thoughts lead from his father to today's dinner. They were still unpacking and renovating the house so hiring a maid was quite another burden and both of them weren't much of a good cook. Back in Harran, everyone knew each other, it was like the whole neighborhood was relative. Grandma Do who was Han's mother's elder sister she would always come by in the morning to make them breakfast and dinner in the evening. Han's father was grateful for her, so he always paid her monthly even if she strongly refused. Grandma Do would always say she was looking out for her sister's husband and grandson as she was no longer here to do so. She was the one who cried the most when they left for Harran.

Papa could cook some basic dishes like a sandwich, pasta, or noodles while I could only warm-up the cold food in the microwave and cook ramen.
But papa has been coming home tired every night and honestly I was tired of the basic. I sighed.

A small nudge broke my train of thoughts as Hyunjin whisper yelled from behind.
When I looked back at him, his eyes were gesturing towards the front as he pointed towards the source of glaring.

Mrs. Chamelion, at least that's what everyone called her, narrowed her eyes at me with her hands folded as if waiting for me to give her attention.
My consciousness crept out when I felt more than one eye at me but the entire class looking at me.
I immediately sat up straight then squeaked a small sorry with an innocent smile.

With a last warning glare, she went back to teaching and I pretended to pay attention for a while but then again went back to staring at the desk and just thinking random stuff.
