Link was the most skilled swordsman in the Kingdom of Hyrule. One day he had fought in a competition to see who was the most skilled in the land. And of course, he had been victorious, as his father had always predicted.
As a reward for winning the event, Link became one of few men alive in Hyrule who had been taken into the Lost Woods to gaze upon the Blade of Evil's Bane, a sacred blade forged by the gods, to be wielded by the Hero of Hyrule.
Link had taken the blade from its pedestal successfully, for it had chosen him to be its partner.
Link had few friends in his early years. He barely knew his father, who was always busy, being a Royal Guard captain and all. Link never got along well with his fellow Knights and soldiers. They only loved to see him stuff food in his mouth as fast as he could, one of Link's many strange skills.
Link had a few friends at Zora's Domain, a place he had visited many times after first being taken there by his father. There, he had met Princess Mipha of the Zora, a skilled user of healing magic, along with a few other people.
But eventually, dark clouds came upon Hyrule, when the King's Royal Prophet, Astor, prophecized the return of Calamity Ganon, an ancient evil.
Link had been appointed Princess Zelda's personal knight, and soon became the Hylian Champion, along with four other champions. However, being Zelda's personal knight meant he wouldn't get to see the Zora or his old colleagues much.
Lady Mipha of the Zora was appointed Zora Champion, meaning Link knew one familiar face at the inaguaration ceremony. Lord Daruk of the Gorons was appointed Goron Champion, and Link had actually met Daruk on the road a few months prior, where Daruk had shown him his special ability to create a magical force field around himself. Link had his own tricks up his sleeve, being able to slow down time during combat.
All Link knew of Gerudo Champion Lady Urbosa was that she was quite a close friend to Princess Zelda, and Link knew nothing of Rito Champion Revali other than that he was skilled with a bow, and seemed to have quite an ego. Urbosa was known for a special ability to summon lightning, while Revali was skilled in creating wind updrafts as a member of the Rito.
However, unbeknownst to Link and the others, their efforts to prepare for Ganon's attack were futile. Astor himself was a infiltrator from a cult of Ganon's followers. And Ganon himself had a cunning plan to turn Hyrulean technology against Hyrule.
Over the past few weeks, Link had given a visit to all of the Champions to hang out, because Link and Zelda were meeting with them all to head to the Spring of Wisdom soon, and Link sensed there was a possibility that Zelda might finally unlock her sealing powers there.
And of course, Calamity Ganon could strike any moment. But what Link did not realize, was that Calamity Ganon would strike on Zelda's upcoming 17th birthday, the day she would visit the Spring of Wisdom. On that day, Ganon would kill the King of Hyrule, the four champions, and thousands more, devestating Hyrule, with only some surviving to tell the tale, including Link and Zelda.
But instead, something far stranger would happen.
