Blind fire bender (ATLA/ALOK)

This idea originally formed from another concept I was considering, a blind air bender. I had brought it up to my brother, another Avatar fan. However, he had brought up a point. It wouldn't be that different from an air bender with sight (if you want more details, I might make a chapter on the blind air bender concept in the future).

But that got me thinking, what about a blind fire bender?

I thought about it, and I actually liked that concept more.

So, here it is.

If you watch ATLA, you know Toph. If you don't, allow me to fill you in.

If you know, or just don't want any spoilers, you can skip to the designated point.

Toph is a young, blind girl you meet at the beginning of Book Two: Earth.

She is from a wealthy family in the Earth Kingdom. Because she is blind, her parents shelter her to the point where the town they live in doesn't even know she exists.

Her family has her take Earth bending lessons from a tutor, keeping her on basics. Little do they know, she's already way beyond that, taking down full grown men who'd been bending their entire lives.

After some events, she joins the main cast, becoming Aang's earth bending teacher.

Later, she creates an entire new form of bending that everybody thought impossible, metal bending. There's a lot to that whole thing, but the only one you really need to know for this concept is that her ability to do this stems from another ability she possessed, her seismic sense.

Seismic sense pretty much allows her to see things without seeing them. However, they must be touching the ground for her to do so.

Some abilities this person would posses are based around Toph's, simply altered to fit a fire bender.

Abilities -
- Fire bending: the ability to create and control fire

- Heat/Thermal sense: the ability to detect the heat of other people and things and accurately pinpoint it's location, inspired by Toph's tremor sense

Weaknesses:
- Cold: if they become to cold, they are unable to fire bend (there is a technique they can learn to negate this), however, it becomes easier for them to detect living things, or anything that generates heat

- Extreme heat: if the place they are is too hot, their heat sense becomes blurry, or they can't detect things basically at all (at least until later in life)

Possible story beginning-
Much like Toph, they are largely underestimated in the beginning. However, unlike Toph, their family never hid them away. Due to the difference in how many people treat the "weak" in the Fire Nation, they are bullied and harshly ridiculed, even by members of their family. Eventually, the opportunity to prove themselves presents itself. Do they take it?
