Warning: sad. Talks about death (duh)

Do not read if you don't think you can handle it.

The prints in the snow were indeed from him. Each footstep hurt as if he was carrying a boulder with him. Or perhaps a large burden. Well, he was carrying a rather weighty burden really.

It was indeed freezing, as the puffy haired hero trudged through the deep January snow.

Ah yes, winter. He had such very fond memories of this time. The loud boy loved the winter months so much. Memories of sitting around a fire, and just lazing around brought a soft smile to his hidden lips.

Oh how he wished it would be like that now. Wouldn't that be fantastic? To change the world and spin back the clock hands so you could still be here? Oh. Well, he figured it was a good thing that he couldn't feel the cold raw wind on his face. His face, along with the rest of his body had been numb for a while now.

Nah no. He wasn't lucky, he never was a lucky person.

He could still see his own breath due to the freezing cold conditions though. Still, he didn't have much longer to walk...

He huffed out in exhaustion and slight anger when he seen the sheer hight of the large hill he had to now climb to reach his destination.

Oh no definitely not much longer..

No, he had to be strong and keep going.

He took a moment to prepare himself, before stepping forward. The first step of a long, lonely, hard climb. He looked up, and he kept looking forward. Never back, he never could look back.

That's what you used to do, look forward. Never look back. You had a sort of "The past is in the past" attitude. He used to loved it.

He had seen many many good qualities in you. Kindness, a sense of fun, beauty. The list went on and on. He smiled slightly as he walked, it was so nice to be able to think about you for once. He had been keeping himself busy lately, trying to...

...

He paused in his walk, then shook his head.

He couldn't forget. He could never forget you. Simple as that really. It's so hard to forget the first gleam of sunshine when you've been in the dark for so so long. He was trapped in the dark. Alone, and lost. Trapped in his own mind, he was nothing but a puppet of the voices in his head. But, with you, he didn't feel so trapped. He felt like someone was letting him have an escape for once in a while. It was so refreshing.

He sniffled, but shook his head again and walked on once more. He couldn't afford to waste time, he had to keep going, no stopping nor looking back. No crying.

The freezing damp and snowy weather made his body even number then it already was, even to spite his warm protective clothing. He couldn't really feel his fingers any more as they clenched the object that he was carrying up this obstacle. Yeah, it seemed cliche. But his body was even number then his heart had been recently.

When he neared the top, it was even colder then the bottom. Much colder in fact. He panted as the top of the hill became in sight.

He almost laughed when he could almost see it, his destination. A breathy, low laugh. He wanted to cheer but he had almost no energy left.

He wanted to just blast himself up there, but there was no challenge in that. He felt like he needed it to hurt, it had to be hard, it had to be lonely it needed to hurt every time he seen you.

He had to be punished right?

He stopped.

He had reached his destination at long last.

His breath hitched as he stared at the cold, lone, gray slab of stone in front of him.

"Ha..."

He began, but was too out of breath to continue for a moment. He prepared himself, he looked away once again and stared into the countryside from the ever so high hill.

He was on top of the world, however he didn't feel like that.

He looked back at the gravestone.

The words: 'Here lies (y/n), (y/l/n).' Printed in a slightly darker font then the stone, and in Times Roman was on the front of the grave.

He smiled.

"Hi (y/n). I'm back."

He was strong and he kept going.

Something he wished you could have done. He chuckled softly.

"If I was a sculpture but then again no."

He sang,

"Or a girl in, a travelling show."

He continued, all the way through the song. When he neared the end, he slowly got down on his knees.

"How wonderful life was with you in the world."

He rested the beautiful flowers which he had been carrying on the soil around the grave. Without saying another word, he got up and began to walk back down from his castle in the sky. The hill, to you and him.

He smiled, for one more time.

"I'm sorry, my love." He whispered gently as he faded into the distance.

And for a split second, he almost heard, in a mystical, angelic voice that seemed to flow with the gentle wind:

"I forgive you."

But it was probably his imagination.

I hope everyone enjoyed this short story! I know it was sad, but I kinda wanna start traveling away from happy endings, because sometimes there are no happy endings.

I want people to really start realizing that, and treasuring the happy moments you make with someone because you don't know when the last time is you'll see them. Sometimes they'll eat you alive as well. So, cherish the time you have with everyone, and stay alive for the good times. Stay alive through the pain.

Stay alive through the hopes and the dreams. The best that you'll ever have

Anyway, I hope y'all enjoyed this and of you did hit that vote button and comment below. I love you all.
