My name is Joe Fuji. I am the smalest kid in 7th grade. I like school, except for one class, history. It is the worst. I have a story I would like to share. I hope you believe it's true. It all started in study hall in the middle of a school day on Friday.

"So, 4:30 it is?" I said to my best friend, Steve.
Steve replied, "Yep, and Joe, let's just hope I get my chores done on time and that my mom will let me come."
The bell rang in a loud, 'Ding-a-ling-a-ling!' It was time for the next class. History. I was NOT excited for that. I hate history. Just all about a whole bunch of dead guys, and it's just boring. Who cares about that stuff? I walked into the 7th grade Junior High history room. I got in my seat and waited for the history teacher, Mr. Sheen, to come in.
"Hello class," Mr. Sheen said after he walked in, "Today, we are going to start reading chapter 7 in our history book named 'Pirates' Adventures.'"
After he said those last 2 words, I got out my book and flipped to the page as fast as I could without ripping any pages out.
Grace, who was my girlfriend, said, "I've never seen you this excited about history before."
"Didn't you hear him?" I said, "He said we are learning about pirates!"
We learned about how people could have become pirates. After class, it was time to go, but instead of rushing out the door to get ready to go home, I stayed and asked Mr. Sheen a question.
"Do you know if there is any treasure here in North Dakota?"
"I think there's some rumor that around 200 to 300 years ago, some treasure was buried just south of Bismarck."
"That's near where I live! See you tomorrow."
I rushed to get my stuff. Then I went outside to wait for the bus. Steve was there waiting for me, as usual. "Where've you been?" he said, "I've been waiting for you."
I quickly replied, "Mr. Sheen told me there's treasure south of Bismarck near our places and we need to find it right away!"
"Slow down Joe! You'll pass out if yo-." Steve stopped right in his words and said, "Did you say TREASURE?!"
"Yep," Joe said excitingly, "Here comes the bus. Let's go!" We got on the bus and picked our usual spots in the front seats on the passenger side.
Ten minutes later, the bus stopped at my house.
"See you later Steve!" I called.
Steve then called through the window, "Bye, Joe, see you at 4:30!"
Through the living room window, I could see my little sister, Elisa, and out from the doghouse came Jack, my dog.
"That's a good boy," I said to Jack scratching behind his ear.
When I got inside, I saw mom cleaning the fastest I ever saw her clean.
"Mom, what's the hurry?!"
She had the vacuum on so she couldn't hear me.
She said, "Is that you honey?! Could you take your sister and go up to your room?!"
"Sure mom!" I said, trying to yell over the loud noise of the vacuum.
After we got upstairs, "So," said Elisa, "What happened?"
"What do you mean?" I said back.
"I know that face."
"What face?"
"The 'I can't believe it, this is so exciting' face."
"Okay, Okay, but I can't tell you."
"Why?"
"I said I can't tell you."
I got started on my homework. I just couldn't do it. The only thing to think about was the treasure. Then, I remembered Steve would be coming at 4:30. It was 4:00. I had a half hour. Twenty math questions was all I had to do. Since I couldn't pay attention easy, it took me 26 minutes. Four minutes left. I put my stuff back in my backpack, ran downstairs, and hanged my bag up. Like 2 seconds later, the doorbell rang. I ran to the door, looked through the door window, and saw Steve.
"Hey, Steve!" I said.
He replied, "Hi, Joe. My mom said I could stay for dinner."
"Great!"
A couple minutes later, we had lunch and went to our fort on the tall tree in the big prairie.
