Wolfgang was strong in mind, but weak at heart. His emotions seemed to always get in the way of his work, his mission, his soul purpose in his life. The words of his sister caused him pain, far more pain than he ever experienced in any war he was in. "Remember". The one word that his sister spoke before her death, the one word that has haunted him for the later years of his life.
While they were kids Wolfgang and Amelia were very poor, so the only real thing they had was each other. One day while they were hanging around their father's farm they decided to play hide and seek; this was their first mistake. The barn had just recently been occupied by an escaped con nicknamed the "Black Death", and unfortunately for their parents, he was thirsty for blood.
After an hour of frantic searching, Wolfgang heard two faint screams coming from the barn. He ran as fast as he could towards the sound of the screams. As he approached the the area he saw the coarse dirt was soaked with blood. Breathing heavily he timidly looked into the barn. About 15 feet away his parents laid bloody and beaten. Wolfgang fell to his knees and started sobbing, next to him his sister Amelia was lying on the ground curled up next to her mother.
"I just wanted to hide in here," she sniffled, rubbing her nose, "but I found mom and dad in here." She quietly laid her head down and cried, Amelia was only 7 at the time and Wolfgang 12, but they knew love like it was the air they breathed. Wolfgang, sobbing harder, leaned over giving his sister a hug.
While they sat there in an embrace they heard the final words of their mom, "Be...hin...d yo...u." She choked. They turned around and saw the killer, blood soaked with a kitchen knife in hand, wearing the an evil smirk. His black hair matted and clothes all tattered, without all the blood covering his clothing he would've looked like a homeless person. But in his eyes shone his true self, his psychotic self.
The killer took a step forward causing Wolfgang to lean back. He shook with anger and sadness. He could feel the fury building inside his body; this man had killed his parents, and now he was going to kill him.
Wolfgang hopped up, surprising the killer, and screamed, "You will pay for this!" He lunged for the nearest weapon to him, a pitchfork from the stall next to him, and stabbed the killer. Enraged he repeatedly stabbed him over and over in the chest. Walking over to his fathers corpse he reached into his pocket and grabbed his lighter, lighting the killer's body on fire.
The killer was dead and the barn was burned to the ground, Amelia had fainted in horror from watching her brother kill a man. Wolfgang had dragged his sister out of the burning barn, and watched with grief as it burned down. He felt like he had to run in there and shake his parents awake and save them from the fire, but then he remembered they were dead and he couldn't save them.
Wolfgang reached into his pocket and pulled out his dad's lighter, and gently stroked the smooth, cold metal. He remembered all the fun times he had with him, and then he thought of how he would never have that again. A tear started to fall but he quickly wiped it away before it could go any farther. He needed to be strong for his sister.
Stroking his sisters silky, fire red hair, Wolfgang thought of the life they would live. With no parents someone would send them of to an orphanage for sure, but he didn't want that; not for him, or his sister. But they could no longer live like they were, it was all different now, he was a murderer and he would have to deal with that guilt the rest of his life.
The day had started out so pleasant, just like any other day, and then it had all gone to hell. A crisp wind blew across Wolfgang's face, causing Amelia to shiver so he held her close. He would find a way for them to live somewhere in this harsh world. Wolfgang would find the place for them; he silently promised his sister that, and Wolfgang always keeps his promises.
Night had fallen and Amelia was still unconscious, puffy and red eyed Wolfgang sat next to his sister unsure of what to do next. He had killed a man, and his sister watched him do it, and so begins a life-long journey of revenge.
