Flower-bud wasn't going to give up yet. Nuh-uh. Not even to go share that mouse with Bumble-bee. Nope! She wasn't hungry anyway. Besides, she'd get to eat. After she caught this mouse.

Then again, she could go ask Bumble-bee for a bite. Then she wouldn't have to catch the mouse. But Mother wanted her to go catch her own mouse, and she had to admit- that would feel good.

Still, sharing a mouse with Bumble-bee right then sounded good too, and it didn't even require work! Also, the sun was warm that day...as it should have been in the hot, dry savannah.

"Hey, FLOWER! WHAT'RE YOU DOING?" A voice shouted from behind her, making Flower yelp and jump. Her mouse, which was previously chewing on a nut, started and skittered away.

"FIRE-FLY! I was hunting," Grumbled Flower.

"Well, it didn't look like it. You looked like you were daydreaming," Fire-fly pointed out.

"Doesn't mean you can barge in, Fire," Flower poked her paw at Fire-fly.

"It was escaping anyway," Fire-fly rolled her blue-green eyes.

"Oh, don't talk like that! I almost got it! Now I have to find some other dinner!"

"We're having lunch right now. Also, can't you just ask Bumble to share? He's got a HUGE mouse," Fire-fly suggested.

Flower grinned, as much as a fox can, of course. "Good idea! I'll share with Bumble and you find me a VOLE! How 'bout that, sis?"

"Uhm...no thank you."

"Aw...please?"

"Ha..no."

"Pretty Please with a rabbit on top?"

"So you're catching me a rabbit?"

"That isn't what I meant!"

"Too bad."

"Fine! Now go away and leave me alone!" Flower stomped off, grumbling about annoying older sisters. She nosed her way through a dry patch of grass and bounded off in what she thought was the direction of a rabbit hole.

Unfortunately, it wasn't. She found herself standing in a clearing of dead grass, which was literally all of the savannah, but Flower knew this was some special place. Mostly because she didn't know where she was and didn't want to admit it.

Flower sighed and flopped down. Now she was definitely not going to be able to catch a rabbit.

Suddenly, a yelping floated down and echoed harshly in her ear.
"Who's there?" Flower barked.

"Oh hey, Flower! Did'ja catch my rabbit? Oh, and what're you doing here anyway?" Fire-fly emerged from behind her.

"Oh, it's you. Can't you see I'm in distress?" Flower frowned, then feigned unconsciousness.

"Uh...not really," Fire-fly said skeptically. "All I see is that you're a really bad actor."

"I can't be that bad, can I?" Flower asked, hopping up again.

"I didn't say how bad. I just said that you're bad."

"You said I'm REALLY bad."

"Yeah, that too."

"You're not making sense! Come on, I'm starving!" Flower turned and marched off in a random direction before Fire-fly stopped her and nudged her in the other direction.

"The den's that way, smarty-pants."

"Ugh..." Flower trudged along next to Fire-fly, who had started off towards the camp.

The sun was slowly starting to climb back down, and Flower wondered if she would have to skip lunch and start on dinner. But now that she thought about it, that wasn't such a horrible scenario.
