A week later.
"Hey Wilson thanks for letting me stay at your place." James said as he dropped a large brown suitcase on a small bed.
"It's not a problem, besides it's close to the tavern."
"You know I don't drink."
"Yeah but you could meet a nice lady there."
"Seriously Wilson! I'm still trying to find Rose."
"Hey just an observation."
James stared Wilson straight in the eyes with a fierce look in his eyes.
"Hey so I was wandering if you wanted to go on patrol, there's been a couple of things happening around and the sheriff wants us to patrol and also I don't wanna be bored by myself." Wilson said trying to change the subject as he started to make soup.
"Sure, what time are you on patrol?" James said still annoyed.
"4:25am, bring your horse and we'll be on until 8:35."
"Hey I'm going to sleep I've already feed the horses."
"Sleep now? It's only 12:00pm."
As Wilson had finished making soup James was already asleep.
"Hey buddy wake up we gotta go soon." Wilson said as he shook James awake.
"Huh? Oh yeah I'll be ready soon." James said half asleep.
A few minutes later and the two were standing outside beside their horses.
"So were are we patrolling from and to?" James said as he climbed onto his horse Little Guitars.
"From the station here to the one in the next in Boston, there'll be some lads from Boston coming the way we going, we should be able to meet them halfway and share reports and any danger."
"Sounds tough, hey we have like four hours to travel right? It would take us longer if we were be realistic and stopped for breaks."
"Yeah, but I'll get in trouble if I get there later than required."
"Well then let's get going." James said already on his horse.
On the road to Boston the two make a song.
"And with our horse big and strong we'll race them all..." The two men sang gleefully before stopping.
"Hey Wilson that rock over there it looks like there's some blood or something on it." James said as he pointed at the boulder.
"James stay here and I'll check it out."
Wilson dismounted his horse and grabbed his shotgun from his horse.
"Hey anyone there are you okay?"
Wilson stepped forward towards the large boulder and stopped once he saw what was behind it. The two other police officers that were supposed to meet them halfway between New York and Boston were dead, covered in blood along with their horses. One horse was skinny and looked like it had been drained of body fluids and any organ. The other was on its side with its organs spreading out from its body and covering the two dead men.
"What's wrong Wilson?"
"They're dead, so are the horses." Wilson replied.
"Seriously!?" James said in disbelief.
"We should get out of here."
"Shouldn't we report it to the next station?"
"James if there's an animal around that did this I would go to the station, however this doesn't look like an animal did this I'm more worried about our safety than these folks, once we should be in a safe location I'll radio the station."
"Fine." James sighed.
Wilson climbed back onto his horse.
"C'mon Sgt. Peppers, let's go."
A few kilometres away a figure sits on the ground.
"James and Wilson huh? Sounds like they'll be going to the Boston police station or at least send them some information."
