Gideon Black moon.

He watched as the young girl and the old man greeted people before church.

Leaning against a nearby tree, he  breathed in the stormy air, never taking his eyes off the young girls back as she clung to the old man.
He scoffed at the girls appearance, her hair looked down right uncomfortable scraped back into a tight bun.
He never understood why women did such things to themselves.

The girl tensed and he froze, watching as she seemed to search for him.
When she started to turn, he left.
He'd have to be more careful in the future.

The storm had passed by the time they made their way down the church step's, the sun now peaking through the clouds.

"Are you hungry? We could have lunch at Lewis's." Her father said.

She smiled and nodded just as her stomach let out a growl.

"Maybe Will would be so kind as to join us."

She blushed and looked at her feet as he chuckled at her. He didn't like to admit it but his angel was growing up on him and with her blush and Will stealing glances at her, he figured it wouldn't be long before he was giving her away.

"Will my boy! Would you care to join us for lunch?" Andrew called out to Will.

Surprise fluttered across the young man's face for a moment before he smiled. "Of course I would!"
Will was more than happy to accept the invitation to have lunch with Lilly.
He never told his sister but he had always loved her friend, loved the color of her eyes, the freckles across her slightly upturned nose and her full pink lips and how she blushed whenever he was near her.

In all his twenty years he had never seen a woman as pretty as her, even if she was smaller than he'd like, her head barely reaching his chin and a waist tiny enough for him to wrap his hands around it. He'd have to change that when he married her.

He offered her his arm and grinned at her red face as she took it.

Making their way on the board walk, Lillian tried to control the butterflies in her stomach as she held Will's arm and giggled as he told her a joke.

"A flower for the lady?" An old woman asked standing by a small cart filled with beautiful flowers.

Will smiled at her then turned to the woman to select the perfect one.

Lillian gazed around her as people mulled about and she smiled as she watched a little boy playing with a ball across the street.
Suddenly the ball rolled into the busy street and the boy chased after it, just as a wagon being driven by two horses came speeding into view.

She knew she had to do something, the driver would never see the small child in time to stop. Acting on instinct, she ran for him, reaching him in time to wrap her arms around him but the wagon was already bearing down on them, so close she felt the vibration of the horses hooves.

She braced herself for pain that never came as the horses came to a screaming halt, stopping so fast that the wagon tipped over on it's side, sending the driver falling to the ground with a hard thud.

Holding the trembling boy close, she raised her head to see a tall, broad man in front of her, standing boldly in the street, his duster bellowing in the wind.

He turned to her and her breath caught in her throat as time seemed to slow.
Golden eyes met her own as he looked at her, slowly kneeling down to her level.

"Are you alright?" He asked, gently brushing a loose strand of hair out of her face.
His voice flowed over her like warm honey and she couldn't help but explore his features with her eyes.

Tan skin stretched across high cheek bones, giving away his Indian heritage, thick dark eyelashes framed his beautiful gold eyes, strong brow's frowned in concern and lips slightly parted giving her a glimpse of straight white teeth.

His warm, large hand cupped her cheek when she stayed silent and she shivered as the calluses gently rubbed against her soft skin.

"Lillian!" Her father's voice snapped her out of her daze as he rushed to her side followed closely by Will.

"Oh my sweet girl! Are you alright?" Her father said, falling to his knees in the mud beside her and grabbed her arm. She hadn't realized she was still holding the child until then.

The man dropped his hand and stood to his full height as Will stopped before them and the air was suddenly charged with tension as the two men locked eyes, Will having to look up at the much taller and larger man.

Pulling her arm free from her father's hold, she looked down at the little boy clinging to her.
"Are you alright?"

The terrified boy nodded, his wide blue eyes locked on her face.

Just then the driver stomped his way over to them, red faced with anger and a bloody gash on his wide sweaty forehead.

"Ay! What's this then?! That little bitch better pay for this!" The Irishman said advancing on Lillian, only to stop in his track's by her rescuer.

"I wouldn't." His voice was cold and harsh now as he stood in front of the port man.

"But she-!" The driver started, only to be cut off by a hand gripping the front of his shirt and lifting him of his feet as if he weighed nothing.
He wet his pants in fear when the man spoke.

"Saved a child that you almost ran down. Maybe next time, don't get yourself drunk before hand." Gideon spat, anger twisting his gut as the smelly dirty drunk pissed himself.

He had been observing from an alleyway, looking for his target when he spotted her, holding the arm of a boy.
He had been shocked when he saw her run into the street, spying the child and then the speeding wagon and he acted quickly.

Throwing the man away from him in disgust, he turned back to the girl still holding the child protectively and his heart skipped a beat. She was stunning.

"Joe! Let me through!" A frantic woman called out, dropping her basket full of good's.

"Mommy!" The little boy released his hold on Lillian to run to his mother and wrapped his arms around her waist.

"Thank you sir." The woman said to Gideon with tears in her brown eyes as she gripped her boy.

"Don't thank me." He said raising his hands and pointed at the beautiful girl to his right in the arms of the annoying young man. "She jumped in front of the thing for the boy first."

He couldn't stop the smile that lifted the corner of his mouth as he looked at her, half of her hair had fallen from the awful bun and her pale cheeks were flushed.

He felt himself drawn to her and mentally cursed. He knew he couldn't let himself get close to her and his smile dropped.

Knowing didn't stop him from wanting to though and the sight of her in the other man's arms, made his wolf growl.
