Year 1
Eponine Vitali took her first step off of the Hogwarts train, looking up at the castle before her.
"Wow. I finally made it. I'm here, at Hogwarts." She breathed.
It was unbelievable, unrealistic in a way. It was so hard to believe that she was here. Hogwarts, the school that she fantasized her entire life going to, the one place that her parents would talk endlessly about, going on about their adventurous and phenomenal lives and how they were sure that Eponine was going to make her own memories to tell. She had dreamed about this day for as long as she could remember, and now it was finally here.
Eponine's short, raven black hair flowed behind her as a gust of wind swiftly blew past her, allowing her to breathe in the spring scent of the castle. Her big, dark brown eyes shined as she took a step forward, following the other first years who were being led to the lake by the professors.
Chattering began all around her, the other new students already making friends on their first arrival. As she looked at the children before her, she couldn't help but realize that these were the people that she would be with for the next seven years of her life, and she couldn't wait to meet every single one of them.
Eponine's mind began to swarm with new possibilites of what would happen in the following seven years of her life.
Who will I meet? Will I make life long friends? What adventures will I go on? What house will I be sorted into? Mum is a Ravenclaw and Dad is a Slytherin so I don't know what to expect! Agh! What if I fall in LOVE?!
Her heart swarmed with excitement as a huge smile spread across her face. Her heart felt as if it were to burst open with the thought of the new events coming her way.
Breaking her out of her trance, one of the professors arranged Eponine into a group of three other first years so that they could cross the lake to get to the school.
One of the girls had platinum white hair that flowed a couple inches past her shoulders. She had soft facial complexions, and soft blue eyes that were surrounded by long, thick eyelashes that matched her hair color.
Eponine approached the girl. There was something about her aura that made her feel safe and welcomed.
"Hello there, I'm Eponine Vitali." She said to the white haired girl. "Do you mind if I set here?"
"Oh, why hello Eponine. I'm Luna. Luna Lovegood. It is such a pleasure to be welcomed by your presence. And no, I don't mind at all" Said the girl in a soft, soothing voice.
Utterly shocked by the way the girl talked, Eponine gave a slight smile and replied with a "Thank you" before taking a seat on the cold, wet bench next to her.
"Eponine. What a lovely name. Doesn't it mean 'French horn goddess?'" asked Luna when facing the dark haired girl sitting next to her.
"Er... Um... thank you. And yeah, i guess that's what it means" Eponine said with a slight chuckle.
"What house do you reckon you'll be sorted in?" Luna asked a couple seconds later.
"I'm not exactly sure. My mother was in Ravenclaw, and my dad was in Slytherin, so I guess it will just be a surprise. And you?" Eponine responded with a light, happy tone.
"Most likely Ravenclaw. My dad was sorted into that house, but I'm not so sure about my mom, she never told me before she passed a couple years back" Luna replied, the happiness leaving her piercing blue eyes.
"Oh, I'm terribly sorry, Luna. I can't imagine the pain you feel" Said the raven haired girl with sorrow in her voice.
"Oh please don't be sorry, I'm fine, really. I personally think that the pain we are put through has made every one of us who we are. Every ounce of it. We're all like eggs in a way. We're perfect and smooth on the outside until something cracks us. Pictured as ugly and broken of course, but once we're put into a frying pan, we taste delicious" She said, smiling at her own clever analogy.
Confused by what this strange girl has just told her, Eponine just smiles and says, "I like that." thinking to herself, Eponine knows that she now has a friend. She may not be like every typical eleven year old, but she knows that their friendship will bloom in their future years together.
Once all of the first years were rallied up into the astonishing Great Hall, Eponine was the first to be called on to be sorted.
"RAVENCLAW" yelped the magical hat without hesitation.
Eponine smiled from ear to ear running over to the cheering Ravenclaw table.
Not long after, Luna was rejoined with Eponine at the Ravenclaw table, cheering up and down at the excitement of being sorted into the same house.
Note: I recommend that you listen to the song "Falling for ya" from Teen Beach Movie . That's sort of Eponine's feelings when she first sees Cedric.
Then she saw him.
"Cedric Diggory! Your turn to be sorted!" The professor called at the chattering first years to get their attention.
"Cedric Diggory" Eponine quietly breathed as she smiled at the sight of him. Her heart sped up as the brown haired boy approached the sorting hat, teeth shining as he smiled ear to ear.
She could drown in those grey eyes.
The way they glistened in the brightly lit room, the joy in them as he smiled happily.
Ten seconds.
Ten seconds was all young Eponine needed to fall in love with Cedric Diggory.
Cedric Diggory, you have me falling for you.
Author's Note: Eek! I know it's not the best. It's still the first chapter so i'm taking things slow. Please tell me what you think! Constructive criticism would be helpful too! <3
