Mipha led everybody up to King Dorephan's chambers and called the princess and Link to the domain as well. They waited for some time before Zelda showed up, and when she did, Mipha pulled her aside for a moment.
"Zelda, I'm worried. What if he says no? What if he gets angry? W-What if-" The young blonde put her hand up, quieting the zora.
"Mipha, it will all be alright. Your father will understand, according to my father he would never get angry." Zelda was a bit worried herself, but refused to admit that to Mipha since it would likely worry her more.
"Are you sure?"
"Of course. Now come on, you've got this. I'll be right here with you." The two walked back up the stairs and stood before the King. Link and Zelda both bowed, and the others stood to the side. Sidon stood next to Mipha, and she took a deep breath.
"Father," she began, trembling. "I have been asked by Princess Zelda if I would do the honor of piloting the Divine Beast Vah Ruta."
King Dorephan was taken back a bit by this. Muzu looked her over as if she were joking. The guards quietly whispered things to each other. Even Link looked a bit surprised.
"You mean... in battle?" Muzu pondered out loud, gaping at her. Mipha simply nodded.
"Mipha, you cant possibly be serious dear!" Dorephan leaned forward, eyes never leaving his two children.
"I-I'm sorry father but I must play my part in defeating the Calamity!" Mipha cried, looking back at Zelda and Link, who also looked as at loss as herself.
"I can't believe this." Muzu muttered, shaking his head and walking out of the room, glaring at the guards who were still whispering.
"My child..." Dorephan gave a deep sigh. "I'm glad you're willing to help take down the Calamity when it returns, but I couldn't bear it if something happened to you."
"I'll be careful! We've got this handled!" Mipha tried to smile a bit but it didn't ease her father, nor Sidon, who was worried even as a child who didn't fully understand the situation.
"I-" The king looked down at everyone. Seeing how upset- how desperate- and most importantly, how uncertain the Princess of Hyrule looked- he wanted nothing more but for Mipha to just suddenly turn into a child again so no such task would be requested of her.
"Father, please?" The red zora was about to get down on her knees and beg, but her father cleared his throat.
"Princess Zelda, why is it you chose my Mipha?" He asked, leaving Mipha slightly confused.
"I have seen what Mipha can do. She's strong, smart, enduring, daring, and willing to be a hero. Risk her life for Hyrule. She's truly one in a million, your majesty." Zelda stated, hoping the king would finally settle and agree. But that wasn't the case.
"Well then, now you should see why I wish no harm upon her. She's so special." The king now hoped all of the younger ones before him would listen. But what Mipha said put a near end to it.
"And what about putting my skills to good use then? Do you want me to just sit around and believe I'm all of these things, but not do anything to utilize that gift?" These were the words that changed Dorephan's mind. He hated to admit it in this situation, but he had no choice. Mipha had a point.
"Mipha, you're right. You have wings, you shouldn't be locked in a cage. And you have power, you shouldn't keep it hidden. But..." Everyone waited for the tall blue zora to finish, since this seemed to be the end. "...Promise me you'll return unharmed?"
"Yes father." Mipha managed to say, left speechless with her father's response to all of that.
"Then..." He sighed. "You have my blessing."
"Thank you so much!" Mipha ran over to hug Dorephan, and Sidon went to join them. Everyone else clapped, and the guards did as well but were left quiet now as well.
"Princess Zelda, I would like to hear from your father with more details regarding this." Dorephan said, placing Sidon on his shoulder and not letting Mipha go. Not that she wanted to.
"Of course. I'll get him down here as soon as I can." She nodded, and Dorephan did as well.
Little did they know, this wouldn't be the end.
