The smell of breakfast wafted up the stairway as I passed by on my way to Cam's room. Finding his bed empty dawned concern on me. Panic set in and I trotted downstairs only to find him eating breakfast at the table, his smile lighting up the room once he saw me. Blake spun around to put pancakes on the table and looked up at me.

"Oh, you're up, sorry for bringing him down he wandered into my room looking for you. I'm just about to head out for work, unless you need a ride today or help learning the town today?" He offered.

"Uh - I mean, I should be fine. It'll help me remember the town better if I get lost a few times. I could even ask Kate or one of the kids to show me around."

"Alright, well your breakfast is on the table, food in the fridge for later. I'll see you guys when I get home." He called out as he grabbed his keys and walked towards his car.

Alright, more time to look for jobs. I guess later I could take Cam for a walk, get to know the neighborhood. I know the kids next door have school until about three o' clock. Kate works at a restaurant, which I could visit. Wait- he left me money?

The note on the counter caught my attention, written in blue ink:

"I know it'll be tough starting out so here's $500 to get you up

and going. You could even start a bank account for you two,

go out to eat, take the bus to see more of the town. Have

a good day!"

Awesome, so visiting Kate was the main task for today. Maybe she could even get me a job? Hmm, daycare for Cam. Ugh. this is going to be so frustrating. Time to get to work.

"Hey, buddy, wanna go eat lunch at a restaurant later? You can order whatever you'd like. After we get finished eating here we can go to the bank and even the park." I said excitedly.

Walking out of the front door I heard another door shut, also. I turned to see who it could be and out walked Ronan. He was standing on the porch, smoking a cigarette and arguing on the phone. He really did seem upset like the other night, but whenever he saw me walking down the sidewalk I could hear him tell the person on the other end that he had to go. He snapped his phone shut and threw his cigarette to the side; hollering after me as he did.

"Hey, you're the new girl at Blake's uh - Genesis, right?"

"New girl? Meaning there's others?" We both laughed. "Yeah, Genesis, my parents tried so hard to be original but failed so miserably. Anyway, you're Ronan, the angry one I saw last night."

"Yikes, yeah, having problems with people who think they're entitled to owning me. Sorry about last night, I've been dealing with college, taking care of my youngest brother, ya know, the works. Where ya headed, though?" He questioned.

"I was gonna go to the bank while trying to learn the town. I just hope I can find my way back home." I laughed, reading his face as he looked away. "What about you?"

"Honestly, do you want some company? I need a change of rhythm dealing with so much. I could show you around, if you'd like?" A slight smile showing itself amongst his profile.

"For sure, I'd love that. I was going to go see your sister at the diner she works at; think she'll get me a job?"

"I can definitely help you try."

Along the way to the bank he gave me a tour of some places I might find myself at while living at Blake's house. There was a coffee shop, the local bookstore, the bank, the grocery store, and the park where I could bring Cam. He offered to wait with Cam while I walked down the street to the bank, which I gladly accepted. I always felt bad having to drag him to boring places where all he could do was sit in his seat. It would be good to let them get to know each other anyway, since we would be neighbors. I thanked him and went on my way to go set up an account.
