"Cancer?" I asked the doctor

"Yes" He answered

"Is it a tumor or is it heart" I asked nervously

"No it's actually prostrate cancer. You see prostrate cancer it is the type of cancer found in the small walnut sized gland that produces seminal fluid."

"Symptoms include difficulty in urination but at times there aren't really any symptoms to begin with so you wouldn't really know if you have it but in some cases there might be pain in the bones and in this case he had no symptoms and that's why we couldn't detect it. Some types of prostate cancer grow slowly but in his case it was very aggressive and it requires Chemotherapy, Radiation, Hormone therapy, Surgery and some other treatments." He said explaining from his chart board in his hand.

"C-a-n-I-s-e-e-h-i-m" I said stuttering as I was at the brink of crying after hearing the news of my dad

"Su--" the doctor said but was then caught off by my aunt

"Are you sure dear you know you just woke up" she asked unsurely

"Mmhmm" I said nodding my assuring her I'm fine

She sighed out of defeat then got up my bed to help me up. As I got off the bed my legs felt like Jelly due to the fact that it's been asleep for a long time, I held unto my aunts' hand for support then she escorted me to my fathers room.

As we got to my fathers room I pushed the door with my other hand that didn't have an IVF in it. I thought just listening to what the doctor was saying was bad but then looking at my dad right now seeing his pale face and all the machines that were attached to him helping him survive it just broke my heart. I felt part of this was my fault that this was caused for ignoring him and blaming him for life mistakes not thinking we're all human and we all make mistakes.

"We can come back later if you want" My aunt said with a sympathetic tone bringing me out of my trance

"No" I said firmly telling myself internally to be strong. She helped to the chair beside his bedside.

"Can you give us a minute" I asked her giving her a sympathetic look. She just gave a brief nod and left the room.

I looked around the room taking in the fact that my dad must have been here for days and I never knew, I was busy living life while he was here struggling with an illness. I took hold of his slightly cold hand that felt almost lifeless.

"Dad if you can hear me I just want to start by saying I'm sorry. I--" I paused trying to think of something coherent to say.

"I'M sorry for ignoring you and not being there for blaming for some mistakes that were actually mine. I'm so sorry" I said sobbing into our entwined hands

"Sandra" I heard my father say with a hoarse voice. I instantly raised my head and looked at my dad whose eyes were now opened but looked lifeless

"I'm here daddy" I said holding his hand in a not so firm grip.

He tried to sit up but then I stopped him and helped him properly.

"I'm so sorry" He said his voice filled with regret

"No I'm the one who is supposed to be sorry, I couldn't get over mums' death and kept making it hard for you" I said then freed his hand from mine and used it to caress my cheek

"You've grown up so much Your mum would be so proud" he said stroking my cheek

"She would" I said smiling just thinking about my mum
