Window Letters

Prologue

"Have you heard?"

"No."

"You shouldn't. It's dangerous."

"What's dangerous?"

"What I shouldn't tell you. Which is why I'm not going to."

"You're losing your mind. Just shut up."

"Never."

"Then tell me."

"I can't."

"Why not?"

"You'll think I'm crazy."

"I won't. I promise."

"Promise?"

"Yep. Just tell me."

"I can't tell you. I'm sorry, I can't."

"Then write it down if you can't say the dangerous words out loud."

He walked over to the foggy window in the old hotel room. He traced his finger on the window, spelling out the words. I walked over to the window and slowly read them, over and over again.

They spelled, 'I love you'.
