Caden

I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock blaring in my ear. I groaned, taking in the sound of my bones cracking and the birds chirping as I slowly looked around.
"Caden!" My mother yelled up the stairs and I sighed.
"Get up! And so help me if you break another alarm clock I'm breaking a wooden board over your wolfy ass!" she threatened. My wolf prowled at the surface, wanting her to respond to the threat before remembering that she was technically his mom too. He whined and then went back to sleep. I finally turned off the alarm clock before jumping out of bed, the cold floors not fazing me a bit.

I bit back my excitement over knowing my birthday was soon, and along with it my mate. I couldn't help but wonder what kind of person they would be as I picked out my clothes, my thoughts drowning out the sounds of the hangers moving. Before I knew it, I was downstairs sitting at the table with my sister who was trying to throw a piece of toast at my head.

"Cassie Marie! You are almost 17. Stop trying to hit your brother with the toast, and actually throw a book at him. Food is more important." Our mom tried to be scolding but was smiling at the end. I knew she wasn't ready for me to turn 18 and start my alpha training, and to be fair I'm pretty sure no parent is. No werewolf parent, at least. Cassie smiled and as quick as a rabbit, she darted out the door to go pick up Jason.
Jason was, I guess a friend? He tutored me and in the process, he kinda became friends with Cassie. I shrugged it off and my mom sighed, thinking that Cassie and Jason could have been soulmate in another world. I frowned, maybe because my sister being with him didn't quite sit right or it could have been the partially burnt toast. Yeah, the toast. Not that Jason could possibly date my little sister.

Jason

I woke up with a killer headache. I frowned when I sat up in bed, stretching. It was eerily quiet this morning. The birds were chirping out my window but I didn't hear any movement downstairs, which was weird considering my family was usually quite loud.
I passed it off and quickly got dressed, seeing as I was late. I grabbed my bag from the floor before almost tripping over a pair of women's underwear in the hallway, and almost threw up whatever I ate last night. 'Looks like my brother had a girl over again and didn't have the decency to pick up afterwards.'  I shrugged, seeing as it wasn't my problem, but his. I went down the stairs, taking two at a time and almost fell at the landing. I grabbed an apple before I noticed the note sitting on the table.

'Sorry, had to go in early! Tell me if your brother or dad do anything ok?  Love, Momma xoxo'

I smiled at the note, glad to know that I could talk to her. When I first came out, my mother had been a bit hesitant but eventually, we were fine. Great, even. Unfortunately, my dad and brother didn't take to it as well as my mother did.

My dad released his anger by being verbally abusive and distant. My brother did it by spreading rumors and hurting me. Either way, I tried to avoid them both like the plague and didn't really enjoy social gatherings with them. I went outside, prepared to go to my car before I remembered that my dad had taken the keys and hid them somewhere.
"Fuck! I'm going to be soo late!" I groaned and my wolf growled wanting to get out. I told him to pipe down just as I saw Cassie's car come into view. Her black Nissan rolled into the driveway and I smiled."Figured your dick of a dad might have fucked you over last night so I came to see if you needed a ride."
She smiled back at me and I laughed before jumping into the passenger seat. I buckled in and she pulled out of my tiny driveway before passing the rest of the cookie-cutter houses and got onto the main stretch of road to our school. I sat back and enjoyed the ride before we arrived at hell.

Caden

I pulled into the school parking lot, tense and full of energy. My wolf perked up and stretched before pacing in my head. I tried to calm him down as I was getting out of my car and walking to the door. My girlfriend, Sara, had different plans apparently.
"How is my lovely boyfriend doing on this fine day?" She laughed as she went in for a kiss and I smiled before trying to reciprocate. The keyword in the sentence is trying. Just as we were about to connect my wolf growled and took control for a split second, redirecting her kiss to a peck on my cheek.
"Caden are you okay?" Sara pulled away from me looking slightly worried and I felt bad so I tried to quickly cover it up."Y-Yeah, y'know just morning breath, I was in a rush and forgot to brush. Sorry" I laughed nervously hoping she would buy it before she giggled a bit."You're so weird Caden." she wrapped my arm around her and we strode off into school, before parting to go to class.

Jason

Cassie parked quickly as we rushed to our classes, slightly shivering from the cold. Werewolf or not, I was a small guy okay? I got cold. I hurriedly got my things from my locker before rushing off to my first period, meeting Cassie at the door. We both walked in just before the bell rang and let out a victory screech at the expense of everyone else's ears."Mr. Richards and Miss Lakeland. If you insist on making those ridiculous noises then carry yourselves down to the zoo. This is a school, not an animal exhibit." Mrs. Kants sighed. I put my hand over Cassie's mouth before she said something that would get us both a trip to detention. Again.
I told her we understood then we made our way to the back of the classroom where our seats were."I see enough of her here as it is so why would I pay to go to the zoo?" Cassie grumbled before taking notes, leaving me to quietly snort at her comment.
The rest of our classes passed somewhat uneventfully for the rest of the day. When the bell rang signaling the end of the day, Cassie dragged me to her car.
The wind was nipping at my exposed skin and I shivered before sneezing. "Looks like someone's talking about you~" Cassie sang as she unlocked the doors. I rubbed my nose silently glaring at her.
"So, when do you have to go tutor Caden?" Cassie asked."I have to go tutor him in about 3 hours. Why?" I stretched, holding my hands above my head before getting into the car.
"Because, we need to figure out when you're going to finally tell him you like him?" She looked at me as if it was the most obvious thing in the world."When hell freezes over is when I tell him." I huffed and crossed my arms.
"Come on, you've had this crush on him for 2 years! You and him are graduating this year and are moving in different directions. Don't you want to look back on highschool and say that you had the balls to ask him out?"
Cassie's speech finally ended."Well, I don't have the balls to tell him I like him, and exactly. We're both moving in completely different directions. Even more of a reason to not tell him I like him. Besides! He's happy with his current girlfriend! Who am I to get in the way of that?" I said matter of factly."Because you're better than her.  What does Sara have that you don't anyways?" She continued to grumble as she drove home.
"Well if you think about it, she has boobs, a vagina, long hair, taller than me, and prettier, so quite alot actually." I stuck my tongue out at her and she rolled her eyes.
"Whatever."
