Once upon a time, there was a Realm known as Ofwardin. It was governed by a Council of Guardians, who had a history of constantly bickering over petty and insignificant issues. Like the rest of the Realms, the inhabitants of Ofwardin used magic to make their lives easier. Despite the arguing and in-fighting of the Council, the land was a prosperous one, and it formed the economic backbone of the Realms. However, that all changed after the War of the Realms.
It was a long, long war, spanning almost a century; a century of continuous violence and chaos. In the aftermath of the war, the fairies-from the Realm of Aelthar-came out as victors. They subjugated the rest of the Realms, passing a law that allowed only Realms which accepted the fairies as the overlords of their land rights to magic.
The inhabitants of Ofwardin had a reputation of being diehard rebels, and this certainly remained true all throughout and after the war. They were the only Realm not to accept the fairies’ terms, and so their rights to magic were stripped from them and they became sort of the underlings of the Realms. To make matters worse, the fairies wiped the Realm of Terubride, or the Realm of the trolls, out of existence, which meant that highly hostile and formidable trolls came pouring into the closest Realm up-Ofwardin.
After another few centuries spent restoring the peace in Ofwardin, all seemed to be well. However, nothing good can last very long...
