I loved you..

Chapter 1. A new Beginning

"Come on dude we're gonna be late for work!" My friend Jax yelled through the phone as I struggled to get my pants on.
"I know Jax I'm trying to hurry!" I reply.
"Zeke, my guy, you always take forever!" He yelled through the phone again.
I finally get my pants on and quickly eat a yogurt and throw the spoon in my filled sink. No I'm not a slob I just have zero time nor energy because I work 8 hours a day and I have 2 hour therapy sessions everyday after work so I'm tired when I get home.
"You took forever dude" Jax says in an annoyed manner as I climb into his car.
"I know man sorry I tried not to sleep in this time" I reply with as he pulls out of my driveway.

After work me and Jax head home and he asks "Do I need to drop you off at your therapy session today?"
"No," I reply. "I do need to go to the store though. I'm out of food." I love cooking and I always restock whenever I don't have enough food to cook with. And with that we head to the store. When we get there we both notice a girl named Savannah. Me and Savannah went to school together and she had some sort of psychotic crush on me and it was annoying. If it weren't for my bud Jax I probably would've lost my patience and probably would've killed her. I have anger issues and I hate that I have them because I end up hurting the people I care about.

"Omg Jake is that you!?"
Crap..
"Hey Savannah.." I reply trying not to seem bugged already.
"How have you been?!" Savannah practically yells in my face.
"Just the usual I guess. I can't chat long though I have a lot errands to run." I say resisting the urge to run away faster than a dog running for the back door when it opens.
"Oh ok, catch you later then, cya!" Savannah says while walking to her car with the other girl she was with.

"Ugh she's still as annoying as she was in high school." I say while me and Jax walk into the store.
"Was it just me or was Savannah's friend pretty hot?" Jax replies completely ignoring what I had just said.
I sigh as we head into the dairy section. I notice another girl I went to high school with. Her name is Jade and she's actually pretty cool. She's shy and jumpy but she's got an E-Girl aesthetic and it suits her. She's what our world calls a "Phantom" though. Nothing bad about it  but basically whenever a Phantom is frightened or threatened in any way they will disappear and reappear in the nearest safest place. I don't know why we call them that, maybe it's because they can disappear like ghosts, I still don't know the real reason though.
"Hey Jade." I say in a friendly way.
She slightly gasped and disappeared. Dang I'm either that scary or it must've been sudden.
After a few hours at the store we finally are done shopping and we head to the car.

"You seem into that Jade girl Ezekiel." Jax says as we climb into the car wiggling his eyebrows.
"No I was just being nice. And don't call me that you know I hate that." I reply as I struggle getting my seatbelt on.
"Whatever you say man." He says with a scoff and he drives me home.
