THE ACCIDENT
Duchess
"WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?" I asked Travis, trying to stay calm as possible. Travis, who's seating behind his desk placed the documents down on the desk before looking up at me, and smirked, "Why does it even matter to you? Remember, you're the one who said that none of this is real. Aren't you happy that my parents found out about this fake engagement shit? Now you can be with any guy you want. Or you can be with that guy you were with the other day" He said, and my eyebrows furrowed. What the hell is he talking about?
"What are you talking about, Travis?" I asked him, genuinely confused. I wasn't with anyone this whole week. I was too busy with the job that my mother left me. I didn't have the time to go out with someone.
Travis lets out a sarcastic chuckle, "Stop acting, Duchess. I'm not stupid. I saw you with that one guy the day you told me that you're with your brother. You even used Daegan as an excuse to be with your other guy, huh?" He said. I stopped at my tracks when he called me Duchess. He never called me Duchess before.
I opened my mouth, but ended up closing it because I can't form a right sentence to defend myself. Is he really serious? Doesn't he trust me?
"I never thought that you're that type of person" He scoffed and grabbed the document from the table before turning his back on me.
Tears pooled in my eyes as I continued to stare at the back of his head. Is he really being serious? Why... Why can't I form a sentence? I have to defend myself. I need to. A Hawking like me should never be treated like this.
I stopped thinking when the door of Travis' office opened. I turned around and Empress' smirk greeted me. Her smirk grew wider when she saw me standing there while Travis has his back turned on me.
She cocked a brow at me, "So? What are you still doing here, Hawking? Shouldn't you be running back to your other guy? You fucking slut" She said in a sarcastic tone. My fists curled into a ball, "What did you do?" I asked her through gritted teeth.
She raised her eyebrows and faked a surprised look on her face, "What are you talking about, Hawking?" This bitch.
My eyebrows furrowed, "What did you tell him!? Why is he acting like this!?" I yelled, making her chuckle.
"Oh, I just exposed you. Ya know, it was quite simple actually. So, Methuselah Kheaze Altarejos huh? I never thought that you were into criminals" She said. I dig my nails into my palm as I took a deep breath.
"Tease is not a criminal" I said.
She grinned at me, "See? You're defending him. Now, it's quite impossible to believe that the two of you aren't having an affair" She said, making me chuckle.
"That doesn't even make sense, Empress. Are you stupid or what?" I said, and her smirk disappeared. She quickly walked towards me and raised her hand to slap me but before she can, I held her wrist — preventing her from slapping me.
I tightened my grip on her wrist when she tried to pull away. I raised my free hand to slap her, but I stopped when Travis appeared beside me and held it. His red eyes glared right into mine, "Stop it, Duchess!" He yelled and pushed me away.
I let go of Empress' wrist as I fell down on the cold floor. I gasped and looked up at him in disbelief. He... He just pushed me away.
Travis' attention was on Empress. He held her wrist and examined it before looking down at me, "Leave. Leave before I do something to you" He coldy said.
