Artificial daylight still shone through the windows of Grey's room at his the Mile High Resort hotel room. Three vials of the Compound L sat in front of him. Two large men staring at him from the other side of the room. It was finally time to explain his plan. He had travelled long and far to generate all of the necessary events to alter time. The plan would work. Or so the Magistrate told him as they commanded he travel and conduct research on the man known as Germaine Jackson. It takes great determination to tear a body and send it flying through the space time continuum. A man with determination like Germaine would be a perfect fit.
Grey knew time travel could be conducted on most individuals. The simple act of cell separation was easy. It was the cell regeneration required after travel that had varying results. The outturn of time travel is always more consistent with a subject whose mind has passion. Even better if the mind can focus on one life altering event. The Magistrate gave Grey the ability to observe life changing events in Germaine Jackson and he knew what the future holds.
Fate gives most humans a handful of events that could be altered and result in abundant future alterations. But Germaine was unique, Grey was able to observe twenty three unique events in the last 10 years of Germaine's life that presented the opportunity to drastically change the future. The future had to be changed.
Regardless, a plan had been laid and it was time to follow through. He grabbed one vail of Compound L and opened it to expose. Slowly he drew the fluid into a syringe. A beautiful compound it was, really. A shimmering silver glow that continuously changed shades. As if the compound was alive. As Grey finished withdrawing the fluid he exposed a small watch on his wrist. He could see Germaine's confusion as he opened a port and injected the silver fluid into the back of his watch.
"Is that it?" Germain questioned. "Do we save my wife now?"
Brone laughed at the foolish man while Grey continued injecting the fluid. "One vial is enough to travel there and back. We set a year, day, and time on the watch. The rest is a matter of mind control. The additional two vials are in case you do something incredibly stupid." Grey claimed. He turned the watch over to observe, the time was 7:55 PM June 9th, 2039 "But it is time you know the whole plan Germaine". Grey spoke
"We are traveling back to a specific event in the past. This event set in motion a world changing effect. We are not going to save your wife...we are going to save the world." Grey continued. "We will go back to a point in time long before your wife's death."
"You son of a bitch!" Germaine voiced loudly. Slamming his hand against the table as the vails toppled to the ground. "You promised we would save Elaine".
The boy was fueled by passion. Just the state Grey needed him in. He could see Brone grinning as he watched the man's outburst. Brone was a simple man, a clever giant that served as both companion and hired muscle. Brone could really find joy in the strangest of places. Grey felt sorrow in firing up Germaine like this. The man had experienced a great loss but he needed that passion to survive the pending travel.
"Your misunderstood boy, your wife will be rescued in the process. She cannot be murdered on the Lusitania if her slayer never boards the ship. We are travelling to the past to stomp on a few butterflies. Those butterflies will help shape a new future. One in which your wife lives and we save the world." Grey explained
Germaine began to calm but remained frustrated as Grey continued to explain how the travel would work. But Grey could read the boy's mind like an open book. He would travel tonight.
As Grey's explanation concluded it seemed the men had come to an agreement. The mission had been set and there was yet one more piece to reveal.
"Repeat the plan to me again Germaine" Grey spoke.
