Kayla's P.O.V

wearing the same thing from chapter 1

I sat at my desk, lab coat thrown over my outfit from school, searching for the list of interns that would be coming in later today. Gwen had originally been partnered on to help me with it, but Doctor Connors had her assigned to something else at last minute. So I had been put in charge of leading the tour for him, and I was already off to a killer start. Gwen had lost the list-- and the clipboard along with it-- and she deleted it off her computer after she printed it out. (*cough* Idiot *cough*)

"Oh, there!" Gwen whisper shouted, pointing to the screen. I clicked on it, skimming through it before hitting print and pushing away from my chair, jogging over to the printer and pulling the paper out.

"Got it. Do you have a spare clipboard?" I asked, turning to Gwen. My older sister looked at me with twitching lips, arching both eyebrows at me.

"What? You think I just carry around clipboards all day?" she demanded, laughing. I just shrugged, walking back to my desk with paper in hand. My knee high boots clicked on the floor as I walked. She dipped down, opening up a drawer that I never used and pulled out the clipboard.

"Lucky for you, I never use mine." I said, putting the paper in place with only a little bit of a shake.

I had been excited when I was first put on the tour. But Gwen was also supposed to be helping me at first. Now I was on my own in front of a group of people a good two years or so older than myself. I wasn't shy, and I wasn't afraid of speaking in public, I'd just never done something like this before. Leading a tour. Normally I just sat at my desk doing paper work or helping Doctor Connors in the labs. But there as nothing like the present to try something new.

"That's because no one in Oscorp uses paper and clipboards anymore little sister." Gwen shot back, smiling.

Gwen my older sister was a nice girl and all, very smart, but we didn't have much in common. Besides out love for reading and studying. We shared nothing other than the love for science, Reading and studying and where we work but we love each other the same.

"Break a leg, Kayla." Gwen said, smiling encouragingly before walking off. I turned towards them, insides squirming before I took a deep breath and let it out. I pulled my shoulders back, trying to gain a confidence that I was certain I didn't have before I headed forward to meet them.

I was standing in front of the group of interns, clipboard held in front of me with both hands at top, pressing the bottom of it into my stomach as I spoke with the interns. It had been kind of nerve racking at first, but that had slowly melted away as I fell into character, talking about Oscorp and the one thing I enjoyed more than reading and studying. Science. And then Doctor Connors showed up, not only to Claire's joy but also to the interns', seeming as they'd be working under him if they got the job.

"Hello, I am Doctor Curtis Connors. And yes, in case you were wondering, I am a southpaw." he added, glancing towards the arm that was missing. The group of interns laughed at his lame joke, none having the heart to simply stand there.

"Not a cripple, I'm a scientist. And I'm the worlds full most authority in Herpetology. That's reptiles, for those of you who don't know. But like the Parkinson's patient who watches on in horror as her body slowly betrays her, or the man with muscular degeneration who's eyes grow dimmer each day, I long to fix myself." Doctor Connors was saying, eyes moving endlessly around the group of gathered interns.

"I want to create a world without weakness. Anyone care to venture a guess just how?" he asked, looking around. An intern in the front shot his hand up, posture rather stiff as he waited to be called on. Doctor Connors pointed at him, smiling slightly.
