secret dating
south sighed to himself quietly, rolling his eyes as he checked his watch for the fourth time in a span of ten minutes. he jumped slightly when he felt his mother's hands on his shoulders, giving them an gentle squeeze.
"relax, south. he'll be here."
her words calmed him down a bit. not much but... it was enough to make him stop looking at his watch. instead, he crossed his arms and leaned against the doorway. after a moment, he frowned and looked up at his mother, which made her laugh softly. "you're waiting on melys, right? it's no surprise to me. you guys have always been oddly close for two people who hate each other."
she got no response from him so she continued talking.
"why are you so worried about him being late anyway? it's melys. melys always shows up a little late." luna said softly, looking over at her son as she swept the floor.
"i told him to come over a little earlier than everyone, i just wanted to talk to him."
every weekend since they were kids, south and his friends would have a sleepover at each other's houses and this week, it was north and south's turn to host.
he got a hum of approval in response and they soon fell into a comfortable silence. after a few minutes, he turned to her and asked, "how long have you known?"
luna smiled sweetly at her son, pausing her sweeping to turn towards him. "two weeks. i figured it out when he snuck out of your room at 2 a.m." she laughed when he turned bright red and looked at the ground in embarrassment. "ah, don't be embarrassed, sweetie. i got caught sneaking out of your dad's room plenty of times when we were your age."
"... okay, ew." south shook his head, trying to get rid of the image of his mom sneaking out of his dad's room. he sighed in relief when there was a knock on the door and he quickly got up to answer it. he assumed it was melys so he quickly opened the door. he smiled happily when he saw that he was right and he immediately hugged melys.
"woah, hey- get off of me." melys stumbled back a bit when he was hugged but he hugged back, disregarding the fact that he'd just told him to get off.
south sighed in content, burying his face in his boyfriend's chest. he smiled when he felt his hands gently stroking his hair. melys quickly pulled away from him when he made eye contact with luna. "uh."
south frowned and looked up at him. "what?"
"your mom..."
luna just smiled at melys and shook her head. "oh sweetie, i already know."
melys immediately looked down at south, giving him a look as if asking, "you told her?"
"god no. she found out herself. maybe if you would've just snuck out the window like i told you two weeks ago, you wouldn't have gotten us caught." south rolled his eyes and crossed his arms, finally moving over so melys could come inside.
he rolled his eyes back and walked in, closing the door behind him. "i wasn't gonna go out the window and have everyone question why i had a sprained ankle again. they would have gotten suspicious."
"they're suspicious now, mellie." south muttered, rolling his eyes and going upstairs with a sigh. melys waved to luna once more before following him upstairs. "that's absolutely not my fault."
south raised an eyebrow, looking back at him. "if i can remember, that was you who couldn't stay quiet at the sleepover last week." melys went bright red and rolled his eyes. "oh, fuck you, south." he sat on the bed, watching the other start to pick up any clothes that were on the floor. "so... why did you tell me to come over early?" he went silent for a few seconds before he asked, "did i do something wrong?"
