The Past

My name is Rentaro Satou. I'm a Japanese soldier who was summoned by a girl named Jeanne Faust and I became her skeleton knight. Apparently, we're hiding from the most prosperous kingdom in the west, they were feared by their enemies but revered by their allies. the ever growing kingdom in the west, the kingdom of Avalon, and some of the people called it "the Paradise."

In the past. There were rumors in the main city of the kingdom, that the great king Arthur Faust defeated a demon and liberated the land but some believed that he sold his soul to the demon to acquire the worldly treasures. A Kingdom, A family, Love, Power, Wealth, Fame, whatever he desires in life, he already has it all but one, and that is to have an heir. He wanted to pass all of this to his one and only son for his wife died while giving birth to their son.The prince of Avalon, prince Lucius Arturius Faust but the prince never wanted to become a king. He wanted to live a normal life as a commoner with his wife, Jeanne Faust. All they wanted was to live a life without the worries of being a noble. Unlike King Arthur who wanted everything in the world. All they wanted was a peaceful and happy life.

the king was afraid that without an heir to the throne the kingdom would collapse and a fight to the throne would start. His family, his people, his kingdom would be split apart and start a war with one another. This fear swallowed him, that's why he didn't let the prince and Jeanne outside the castle but that was his biggest mistake.

In the middle of the night, the clouds blocked the moon and as the clouds moved slowly, the moon became red. Nothing was out of the ordinary that night other than the red full moon. The morning came and the tables were broken, the room was a mess and the castle was in shambles. Jeanne was nowhere to be found and Lucius and the king were dead.

No one knows what really happened that night, all the nobles could only think of one thing, and that is "it was Jeanne, she killed the king, she betrayed the kingdom."

She became a nobody in the eyes of the people. She became a tool for men, And finally, she reached the limit of this insanity. Her mind broke, her soul was torn to pieces. She became useless to them until she was sold to the king and became a maid.

At that time the castle was searching for a child that could be turned into a maid in the future. They want the child so that they are taught to be a perfect maid in the castle. He tried talking to her, he tried telling her stories, he tried buying her dresses and he tried courting her but alas, it all ended in failure or so he thought. Slowly but surely her life was becoming brighter. The prince's never-ending support made her realize that her life turned out for the better, she realized that her life is not bad as it used to be, and finally... she was able to smile once again. A small smile was seen from her. This small smile was everything to Lucius. Right now, this smile was all he could ask for. Jeanne's smile made Lucius fall in love with her. Every day, the prince would always court Jeanne; And her smile became laughter. The prince never gave up, his resolve made that laughter into her bundle of joy. While still working as a maid she realized that she already fell in love with the prince.

I can feel the happiness in her voice. She was just reminiscing about the past but she was so happy that I could see her smile. I guess that's what love feels like.

Alas, their love was forbidden because he's a prince and Jeanne was a commoner, a slave to be exact. All of the nobles rejected their love for each other but the king didn't mind. He was a kind and understanding king. He let his son find his true love because right now, all he wants is his son to live a wonderful life. The nobles didn't like a lowly commoner to be the next queen that's why she was bashed, she was called names. They say that she's a slut that seduced the prince. A whore who would do anything to get what she wants but she didn't mind them. The pain that she suffered before is much worse from this. She let them continue their insults and she lived her life comfortably.
