Once upon a time, there was a king and queen named Yusho and Yoko, who ruled a large and mighty kingdom, and one day they noticed their son Yuya looking lonely for he doesn't have anyone to play with, Yuya wished to having a younger sibling who he'll will play and protect forever.

Then a year later, happily, a daughter was born, a princess and Yuya's baby sister, she was given the name Gili.

Kings and queens came from all around to offer their gifts to the child. Among them, was the widow Henrietta, and her young son prince Declan.

It was then that Yusho and Yoko and Henrietta happened upon the same idea. Declan and Gili would be brought together each summer in hopes that they would fall in love, and join their kingdoms forever.

But unknown to all was another plan, that of an evil enchanter, Zarc. The birth of another Royal child has become a great opportunity for him, if he could sacrifice the princess, he would gain powers unimaginable that he could easily take the kingdom. So he was preparing to take Yusho and Yoko's kingdom by means of the forbidden arts. 

On the eve of his assault, he planned to take the royal princess, what he didn't know is that Yuya knew his plans and he disguised himself as his baby sister, he knew the risk but he promised he'll protect her.

Zarc entered the princess's chambers, he cast a spell on her but he learned it wasn't the princess, but the prince. He cursed himself for his mistake and took the prince away,he was about to look for the princess, when Yusho attacked and Zarc's powers were plunged into darkness.

Despite calls for his death, the enchanter was only banished. "I'm not finished with you yet, Yusho, Yoko. Someday, I'll get my power back, and when I do, everything you own, everything you love, will be mine. After all, I already have your prince, soon it'll be your princess."

Many feared King Yusho and Queen Yoko too kind. With the loss of the prince, the next heir to the throne is Gili. But in time, the threat was forgotten all hopes turned to that not too distant summer when Declan and Gili would meet.
