I was asleep, it was so far a good sleep. It usually takes me a while to go to bed, but not on this night. This night was different. A jump on to my bed, get under the covers, get my head positioned right on my pillow, and I doze off. I suddenly hear a noise, it's distant but still a noise. It's not a usual noise that you hear in the middle of the night, like a creak in the house, or your dad snoring. It's a type of noise that a guard dog would bark at, or a window breaking. I hear rain pattering against my window so it must be a storm. So I throw the covers off my body, slowly get out of bed, and walk out of my room. I hear a huge boom of thunder. First I check out the living room, no broken windows, the PS3 is still there, and the couch is cold, Un-touched. I see a flash of lightning out of a window. I then go into our kitchen, the fridge is closed, no food on the counter, nothing unusual. I hear another boom. I walk down the hall, past my bedroom to my parents bedroom on the left, Dad is in mid-snore while Mom is sleeping on her side with both hands under her head like a princess. I see a flash of lightning out of a window. I then walk to the end of the hall to my brother's room. I slowly peak through the door, there is my brother standing on one end of the room with his hands out, in a calming position. I look at the other side of the room, there is a man with a hoodie. They are having a conversation, but it's hard to hear because of the storm. He's pointing a gun at my brother. I mouth 'oh my god' and I have a worried look on my face. Suddenly I hear a loud boom. I'm not sure if it was thunder, or If the man shot the gun. My brother then collapses on the floor, he's motionless. Then there is a flash of lightning, it shines through the window and I see my brothers dead emotionless face, with a bullet in his head. The man then escapes out the window. I run to my brother, and hold him while, I shout for my Mom and Dad to help. They come running into the room, they are shocked at the sight of my brother, their son, dead. Mom has her hands on her mouth, shout-crying. My Dad comes over to my brother, he holds him and cries into his body. Throughout this experience it seems as if everything has gone silent. I do not hear my mother's cries or my father's weeping. I see the gun lying on the floor that ended my brother, the man left us a gift. Everything has changed.
